(6,974 posts)There are SOME who voted for him that have seen the light and admit that they were either stupid or duped (Per my friends relatives/friends. NO ONE in my family voted for tRump or are thuglicans). However, too many of them continue on drinking their Kool-Aid WHILE wearing their tin-foil hats
My friend said that her sister-in-law and brother told her that ALL of those russian contacts of Kushner's, Manafort's and Flynn's were Crooked Hillary's friends , and that she lost on purpose while at the same time paying Manafort/Kushnerm & Flynn to help her frame Dotard, and that she's also working with the FBI, CIA and especially with Comey, McCabe and Robert Mueller, who they told my friend was never in Vietnam My friend & her husband started limiting contact with her brother/his wife even before the GE, but have had almost had NO contact with them since February 2016, but she couldn't avoid speaking with them because they all recently attended their Great Aunt's funeral. She was 102 yes old, extremely liberal and from Missouri when it was a Democratic stronghold. My friend said that her Great-aunt was sickened because her Great-grandson voted Republican and especially for tRump, who the Great-aunt called "SATAN'S BOY." My friend said that her 2nd cousin told her that everytime her Mom saw tRump on television, she'd high-tail it out of the room on her electric wheelchair, because she couldn't listen to nor stand to even LOOK @ "SATAN'S BOY."
Back to the tRump cultists, many of them are TRULY bat shit. They're NOT reachable.

I expect delusions from cult followers and venal and craven "conservatives" but what real Democrat would buy into "conservative" conspiracy bullshit?

We may not have elections where votes are counted at least votes by democrats.
If we dont take back house and senate, everything WILL come apart in a very bad way. Very fast
Anyone who still supports the traitor is them-self acting out treason. period

(178 posts)Russia hasn't taken over, they aided a coup by white supremacist dead enders. These people aren't supporting a traitor, they are supporting a coup. They aren't being fooled, they aren't being manipulated. They are in on it and they like it. Russia isn't destroying our government. Americans are. Instead of waiting for the 58% in this poll to wake up, it is time we wake up to the fact our system of government has been overthrown, not by foreign actors but by Americans, with the help of foreign actors.

(31,109 posts)RUSSIA hacked our elections, stole the elections, on behalf of SIXTY MILLION traitors aka republicans.
Blackjackdavey
(178 posts)saying the same thing. The sixty million are American citizens. They are not Russians. They are not going to go away whether we round up all the Russians and impeach Trump and throw his ass in jail or not. In fact, I fully expect a Trump impeachment to simply be the next step toward a hot civil war. They call themselves patriots, they "love" America, they mean to do us harm. They are Americans. Don't get me wrong, Russia loves it, is knee deep in it but they are merely foreign allies of the enemy within.

(178 posts)The reason I think this distinction is important is because the Mueller investigation is beginning to seem a bit too conveniently distracting to a large number of us are pinning our hopes on the outcome while our government, all of the things that did indeed make America great, are being systematically dismantled. When it's over, too many will blame Russians, and these same people will once again rise from the ashes, maybe not in name but in spirit. I'm picking up that you agree.

(7,431 posts)It works so well that 58% of Republicans now believe that a largely Republican dominated DoJ is somehow anti-Republican and is therefore determined to destroy Republican politicians. That's what propaganda does.
Russians love this shit. They've combined forces with wingers and Trumpians to undermine any DoJ authority to uphold the Rule of Law.

(17,862 posts)and because of the way electoral votes are proportioned as well as Senators and the gerrymandered Congressional districts, they need to only have about 45% of the population to retain control.

(2,124 posts)They are assisting with obstruction of justice, and openly lying to their moronic audience. Places like breitfart and drudge not helping also.
They think Fox is a national high rated news organization and if Fox isn't covering something than it mustn't be important.
We all watch the protests or things that are going on and then if you switch to Fox it is discussing something unrelated or lying about what is going on. It constantly refers to Democrats or Liberals as having an agenda, and the implication is that it is a nefarious one. Since Fox streams into the living rooms of every nook and cranny of our country, even for those on basic cable, it is a problem.
Republicans are taught not to believe or trust the truth.

(7,077 posts)In perhaps the boldest stroke of all, when the evidence of Nixons wrongdoing became undeniable, the right attributed the presidents crimes to the growing institutional power of the presidency making Watergate, in a sense, a liberal scandal after all.
Until the very end, Watergate gave Nixon a stature on the right that he had previously lacked. And even after Nixons resignation, the right never quite accepted the liberal narrative of the impeachment as a heroic moment for investigative journalism and a cleansing moment for American politics. All of which suggests that, at least for now, the Comey firing could help Trump consolidate his support among conservatives and Republicans, the very people who have the power to hold him accountable.

(60,014 posts)Well, we have past models to indicate just how this works. Think Hitler.
We are in a bad, bad place....we need the apparently invisible, rare republican politicians with spine and care of the country over individual power, greed, and corruption. We need all of these movements to stay the course and grow.
We need an awful lot of the country to turn off hate TV and radio and stop listening to their raving preachers and regrow a brain and a thought process.
We need a lot.

(11,885 posts)Most believe whatever he says is the truth too. Many believe he's religious, faithful to his wife, he's not involved with Putin, and much more , which is regularly proven he isn't, and a serial liar. His track record is littered with people that used to believe him too, contractors, business members he screwed, bank executives he screwed over, and women. The list could go on and on about those that learned he can't be trusted. When they realize he claimed he wouldn't touch Medicare or Social Security , which he's already doing things to undermine them already, then maybe when they realize he's a liar, and not representing them after all they'll refuse to vote for him or any others (GOP) like him out of office.

(3,997 posts)If the Republican leadership is complicit or culpable, they'll never stand up. Is this "framed" narrative holds up once mass charges start coming down, this has the potential to become violent.
Ironically, the FBI and DOJ are in the hands of Republican leadership, and the true scandal within the FBI is Trumplandia and the conspiratorial manipulation of Comey 11 days before the election. This was indeed a coup, and like every Trump narrative, his accusations are projection of his own wrongdoings.

(5,810 posts)And theyd still cling to his side. BFF. But I must say when the proverbial sh*t hits the fan, a substantial number of his supporters will get their eyes opened. His financial information, such as his tax returns will be shocking, no doubt. His accusations of Amazon not paying enough taxes will ring kind of hollow when they find out how little he paid in taxes....for years. And then the depth and degree of betrayal with his deal with Russia might come as a gut punch to those who see him as a patriot only to discover he is anything but that.
So his day of reconning is coming. I hope he doesnt destroy the US of A by the time it gets here.

(14,173 posts)I think that this is true, but only in part. I believe he was criminally involved in money laundering even before entering the WH, and probably knew that Putin was helping to spread fake news about Hillary during the election. But he may not have known the details.
But no matter how much he knew the extent of Putin's help, and facilitated it, its pretty obvious by now how much of an easy mark he is. He's ultra susceptible to flattery, and sexual favors. He's like a spoiled rich kid who never grew up, and desperately wants to be liked, but was never taught how to play with others. Easily manipulated by other smarter operatives.
