Another white collar lawyer turns down Trump

Source: CNN

Another white collar lawyer has turned down the opportunity to represent President Donald Trump, citing an unidentified conflict, as the President struggles to add to the legal team representing him in the special counsel investigation.

People close to Trump contacted New York attorney Steven Molo, a former prosecutor who specializes in white collar defense and court room litigation, in recent weeks following the departure of attorney John Dowd from Trump's personal legal team.

Molo is only the latest attorney to receive an invitation to help Trump during special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into the 2016 campaign and any possible dealings with Russia. Other lawyers who declined to join Trump's team include former US Solicitor General Ted Olson; Emmet Flood, who's worked for multiple presidents; Robert Bennett, Bill Clinton's attorney in the Paula Jones litigation; and Bob Giuffra, of Sullivan & Cromwell.

Molo has a depth of courtroom experience, which could suggest the kind of skills Trump's legal team is seeking as it prepares to decide whether the President will be interviewed by Mueller. The approach to Molo followed the March announcement that attorneys Joseph di Genova and Victoria Toensing would not join the Trump team because of conflicts.

1. I wonder what those "conflicts" are?

Maybe wanting to be paid on time, plus making sure they avoid prison time when the Titanic tRump sinks??

13. "Conflicts" I thought of .. pretty much immediately

• want to get paid
• want client to pay attention to instructions
• want client to understand instructions
• want to be able to look oneself in the mirror
• want to retain ability to acquire more work once Trump is in prison
(On that last bullet, this tweet from Paul Krugman:

3. Bob Bennett was Clintons Attorney

His reputation is stellar. Why didn’t he ask Bill, the inveterate gambler, who has lost millions at the gaming tables.

4. Bennett was asked if donnie

had approached him on the matter and he wouldn't answer the question. I think he's former partner was one of donnie's lawyers.

6. Trump is unrepresentable

His mouth trails his brain. He will not follow legal advice. He will not pay his bills. He will destroy a lawyer's reputation. Bottom line. He is a loser of a client.

8. This reminds me of the line in Breaking Bad when

Saul Goodman says "You don't need a criminal lawyer, you need a CRIMINAL lawyer"!!!!

!(but trump went bad many many years ago, maybe even he was born that way!)

11. Knowing what we know about tRump,

What lawyer in his/her right mind would walk into that trap? Only another narcissist who thinks he can out-tRump tRump would dare take on this terribly complicated and flawed man and his legal woes. tRump has pushed the envelope on legality for decades and has gotten away with his crimes and dirty deeds. But when he made a deal with Putin, he went into a whole other realm. He raised suspicions by our international security professions who began observing him and anyone connected to him. Is it any wonder the charts that show the complicated connections between tRump and his associates look like a spider web?

Consequently tRump is going to have a really difficult time getting the top notch legal representation he desperately needs. With his arrogance, it is likely that the seriousness of his legal woes eludes him and he may even think he is smart enough to work out a strategy with the limited legal team he still has using his “very good brain”.
