German town braces for neo-Nazi concert on Hitler's birthday

BERLIN (AP) — A small town in Germany's far east braced Friday for the arrival of hundreds of neo-Nazis planning to attend a music festival timed to coincide with Adolf Hitler's birthday.

Police in Germany and neighboring Poland were checking people arriving in Ostritz for the 'Shield and Sword festival.'

The two-day event is expected to attract up to 1,000 far-right extremists from Germany, the neighboring Czech Republic and Poland.

Authorities have been unable to stop the concert from happening because it is taking place on private property, but a court on Friday confirmed a ban on the consumption of alcohol during the event. Judges said the neo-Nazi bands would likely fire up the crowd and alcohol might make attendees more aggressive.

of that gift they gave to the world which is still very much alive.

Yes, I know it was a long time ago and they're all very sorry and all of that. But we're still all having to clean it up.

In the Soviet Union, the KGB used to call itself the "sword and shield" of the Communist Party, even had them on their logo:

In the easternmost regions of the old "socialist (SED-run)" part of Germany, western media broadcasts did not penetrate, Accordingly, that was where the most "loyal" percentage of regime followers were to be found. The socialist propaganda line was that they needed no de-nazification programs because "there are no Nazis left here, they are all in the West." Oops, no they weren't, and their 40 year neglect led to some of the worst (mercifully tiny) pockets of neo-Nazi sympathizers.

Such law abiding "good people" like neo-nazis I'm sure will all abide by that requirement....unlike, oh, 99% of every other music concert/festival.
