Alan Grayson to take on fellow Democrat Darren Soto

Source: Tampa Bay Times

WASHINGTON – Alan Grayson will announce Tuesday he'll challenge Congressman Darren Soto of Orlando, taking on a fellow Democrat he faults for not joining in a push to impeach President Donald Trump.

"The people who are appalled by the Trump presidency are demanding it," Grayson told the Tampa Bay Times prior to filing candidate papers. Soto has not joined liberals in voting to proceed with impeachment.

"The district is, if anything, more anti-Trump than the country by a significant margin," Grayson said. "These are critical times. I mean, the president is trying to dismantle democracy."

Party leaders have worked to quiet impeachment talk — Republicans are fashioning it into a rallying cry – but grassroots activists want to see it happen. "I think there are a lot of Democrats who are in fact concerned that there is not enough leadership and spine in the party to stand up to the bullying president."

He was completely disgraced by the time he was out of office before. I hope that he is not successful, because he could cost us a seat we already have.

I, for one, after seeing our best and brightest fighters be taken down by false or embellished accusations, will not throw Alan under the bus like that.

His eldest daughter disputes her mother's claims.

The couple's oldest daughter issued a statement to POLITICO, saying her father had done nothing wrong throughout the marriage. Skye Grayson, 21, said she and her siblings did not want to be “pawns in a game of power” with an unnamed “political opponent.”

“My mother has always struggled with emotional issues,” said Skye Grayson, who noted that several of the older children chose to live with their dad. “She physically lashed out at me, my siblings and our father, and then blamed us for it, victimizing us. This resulted in a considerably troubled childhood home.”

Skye Grayson herself was accused at one point of domestic abuse by her mother. In November 2013, Lolita Grayson told the Orange County Sheriff's Office that her daughter slapped the phone out of her hand as she dialed 911 after an argument erupted over Skye Grayson smoking in her car. No arrests were made.

The couple's 18-year-old daughter, Skye Grayson, wrote an email, forwarded to investigators by her father's attorney, stating that her mother was the one who became physical.

"She continued to yell at my father, pushed him and slapped him in the face," Skye Grayson wrote. "At no time did my father hit or push my mother. In fact, my father backed away from my mother when she became physically aggressive."

He may very well be guilty, but I leave open the strong possibility that she also may have mental health issues and anger issues. If you want to give credit for a woman's testimony, what about her grown daughter's word?

7. Because he's also a bad candidate. He'll lose the primary anyway. FLA had enough of him.

Sure, he WAS well loved here. But you can do things to screw that up. The last time he ran he ran a rough commercial against his opponent that was shown to be altered to the point of falsehood and he refused to stop running it. That attitude is enough for me to toss him under the bus

I'm just sick up to here of Democrats throwing their own under the bus. Especially any that dare go low to counter the abuse they get from the right. Maybe he stepped over the line in taking his opponents comments out of context for an ad, BUT REPUBLICANS DO THAT ALL THE TIME!
I wish we didn't have to get down into the gutter, but they leave us no choice at this time in history. And when one of ours goes slightly over the line of acceptablity, they are swiftly turfed out of the spotlilght.
Maybe it was warranted in this instance, but its highly suspicious and/or stupid when it happens every . friggin . time .

"our own." We're not corrupt like the Republicans have become, and we not only have a right but an absolute duty not to put wrong people in office. We can and should do much better.

Btw, Grayson's call for impeachment is just more evidence of unfitness for office. We CANNOT impeach before November because Republicans control congress. We can only impeach after we get control of congress.

BUT calling for impeachment now is one thing that could anger Republicans into turning out in large numbers in November. And keeping power.

In fact, this is SO potentially dangerous and highly irresponsible that I'm newly wondering just WHO this man might be working for. Probably just a jerk, but these days the question should be asked about anyone whose behavior could sabotage the midterms.

Whatever failings Mr. Grayson may have in his personal life, removing Trump from office supersedes them. Trump has to go and the Republicans need to be dealt defeat after defeat right on through 2020. Alan Grayson is running for office for the correct reasons. He gets my support.

Fairly easy to spot who works for 'the people' and who almost always works on their elections.

He's done excellent work in his district a lot of progress in several years.

I like Alan Grayson and have donated to him, but he hasn't done as much good as Soto the past 3 or 4 years and lately he's consumed with attacking trump.

Alan Grayson comeon!, yes the district is anti-trump as are most Ds, even Hillary doesn't waste words & scream for impeachment.
