At least 109 people killed in deadly dust storm; Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan badly affected

At least 109 people have been killed and more than 130 injured in the deadly dust storm which hit several parts of western and northern India on Wednesday. While as many as 64 people have died and at least 38 injured in different parts of Uttar Pradesh, the toll in Rajasthan due to high-intensity squall and thundershowers has gone up to 27 till now. Nearly 100 have been injured in Rajasthan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Karnataka today, also expressed his condolences over the loss of lives.

1. Poor things. I've read that a bunch of these dust storms originate in

the middle east and northern Africa and have become worse due to environmental changes. And that their arrival of course exacerbates existing high levels of air pollution.

Delhi, with the Himalayas rising behind, supposedly has perhaps the most polluted air on the planet, so bad airlines sometimes have to cancel flights for lack of visibility.
