Trump signs order to protect religious freedom, establishes new White House faith initiative

Source: CBS News

Last Updated May 3, 2018 12:19 PM EDT

During the annual National Day of Prayer commemoration at the White House on Thursday, President Trump signed the latest executive order of his presidency, to establish a faith-based office, the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative. He said it would focus on protecting religious freedom and ensuring that "the faith-based and community organizations that form the bedrock of our society have strong advocates in the White House and throughout the federal government."

"Prayer has always been at the center of the American life. America is a nation of believers, and together we are strengthened by the power of prayer," said Mr. Trump at the Rose Garden ceremony.

In addition to making recommendations to the administration, the office will also inform the administration of "any failures of the executive branch to comply with religious liberty protections under law."

The initiative will be led by a newly appointed White House adviser to the group and will be supported by various faith leaders from outside the federal government. The order also aims to ensure faith based organizations have "equal access to government funding and equal right to exercise their deeply held beliefs."

maybe its' time for someone to file a suit against this "executive order"...................I for one think it's kinda tiring to have violations on the intent of the Constitution which says ones beliefs are more important than some one else, they are not, and the Constitution is not some pseudo christian document.

I think that they should disallow the National Prayer whatever it is.............it enable's more division in this country, and somehow we the people have to pay for this out of the treasury, just for having this fan fair on the grounds of the white house and the transporting of all these elected representatives to this meet and greet

'ensure faith based organizations have "equal access to government funding and equal right to exercise their deeply held beliefs", then the first thing on their agenda should be to tear up Trump immigration policy.

Far more likely is that their actual task is to funnel taxpayer money to private faith-based schools while Devos dismantles public universities and public school systems.

20. Only 47 Percent of Americans Identify as Protestant, Atheism Growing: Gallup
Thu May 3, 2018, 05:49 PM
May 2018
Church attendance by Roman Catholics in the United States has hit a new low, according to a study released on Monday by Gallup, while Protestants are seeing a big drop in their demographic.

The study, based on aggregates from surveys conducted in 1955, 1965-1966, 1975, 1983-1986, 1995-1996, 2005-2008 and 2014-2017, found that overall Catholic attendance hit a 39 percent low last year, which is the lowest since Gallup began recording.

That number was down from the 45 percent attendance rate in 2005-2008, which was actually the highest rate of Catholic attendance recorded.

The study data found that young people make up much of the decline. While 73 percent of those aged 21-29 attended church on a weekly basis in 1955, that number was down to 25 percent in 2017.

Many folks want our country run by Christians

Which version of Christianity?

Many Catholics/Protestants feel that the other is not a true Christian.

What will they say/do when it is not their version of Christianity in charge?

Christians in Ireland fought each other using terrorism.

Muslims kill each other in the name of the same Mohamed but different versions of Islam.

Jews have different sects with some diehard believers/haters against each other.

Purity in the faith for the extremists of all faiths.

.
Oftentimes the method of religion is more important than the God of religion.
.
.
The resultant leaders in charge will be Political Christians rather than Christians of faith.

Doesn’t matter what religious worldview one is induced to follow, thereby formulating a faith-based direction in life. The chaotic division that ensues from irrationally retreating to faith demeans and negates any virtue there might be as it derives from nefarious devotion.
