DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that House Democrats have the fundraising, the issues and the political atmosphere on their side to win back the majority in November.
These factors, and an activated party base thats helped Democrats win in special elections across the country this year are the small droplets of water that create a wave, Pelosi said headlining a county Democratic Party banquet in Des Moines.
This is not going to be big margins, she said. It is going to be small margins in many places.
Democrats need to pick up 23 seats to flip the majority. A stream of Republican House retirements, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, and the GOP-passed tax cuts shaky popularity, underscored by President Trumps low approval, are fueling increased Democratic hopes of retaking the House for the first time since 2010.

The greatest of possibilities are endless when the Dems hold the House & should we take the Senate, America begins to sleep well again at night.
Pretty simple & positive & obvious answer.

(58,785 posts)be a enticing toy to wave in front of his left hand in return for what he's holding in his right, a bigger parade for something else.
The pubs will try to keep as much control of him and government as possible, through surviving cabinet appointees, Pence, phone calls at night, Fox & Friends and other right wing media, of course.
But, just assuming events don't require both parties to agree to remove him from office (very possible but not guaranteed), I can't help thinking Trump would function better with Democratic control of congress. One of his dysfunctions is that he's conservative but his ideology doesn't go beyond "TRUMP." He's pathologically ignorant and inattentive, so no rudder there, and gets blown about by the wind. While the Repubs are broken and turned on each other and so corrupt they can only suicidally serve their big donors when they do manage to pull together briefly.
Trump really does have notions of creating a Trump legacy, of doing "great things," and he wants his base to adore him. He needs to come through on his promises to protect social programs for them, give them better healthcare than the ACA for much less , etcetera. (Right now he'd like to bring drug prices down -- over the fat bodies of wealthy interests.) But after November he could claim a lot of credit while getting a whole lot of help from people who also want that and know how to make it happen.
