Swiss prosecutors discussing Novartis payment to Cohen

Source: The HILL

.
Swiss prosecutors are reportedly looking into payments made by Switzerland-based drug manufacturer Novartis to President Trump's longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen.

Bloomberg News reported Monday that Switzerland's attorney general has been in contact with local prosecutors about the payments, but that no criminal proceedings have been opened.

Novartis admitted last week that it had paid Cohen $1.2 million for a one-year contract after he promised the company access to the president and insights on Trump's thinking on health care policy.

After the payment was made public, the company called it a "mistake." The company said it only met with Cohen once because it determined he would not be able to provide the expected insight.

Did he misrepresent his status? Does Novartis feel defrauded?

BTW....from close second-hand experience via a company I used to work for, I found fraud laws far more toothless than people generally believe. It is SO easy for a fraudster to lift a situation out of fraud and into being simply a civil matter.

For example, weasel language in a contract tends to drastically favour the fraudster, to start with. After that, if a "customer" starts saying the "F" word in question, if it's a contract that calls for physical goods, all that needs doing to ameliorate the fraudulent situation is to ship even a small percentage of the outstanding material.

At that point, it's a claims court action.

It reminds me of Turd's face when the reporter asked him if he knew anything about Cohen's payoff to Stormy Daniels. "Nooo!" he said with wide eyes - same expression your 3 year old has when you ask him if he colored on the wall with crayons.

access and DIDN'T get it. This would be better for us if they did get it, then there would be a better case against Trump.
