Senators vote to begin debate on repealing changes to net neutrality rules

Source: CNN

"Washington (CNN)The Senate voted Wednesday to begin debate on repealing changes to net neutrality rules that were recently adopted by the Republican-controlled Federal Communications Commission."

"Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer spoke after the vote, arguing that "at stake is the future of the Internet."

"That fundamental equality of access is what has made the internet so dynamic," he said on the Senate floor. "Net neutrality protected everyone ... that era, the era of an open Internet, will unfortunately soon come to an end."

He continued: "The Democratic position is very simple. Let's treat the internet like the public good that it is."

1. This could well have been the single most important issue that the last election was about

Because it effects all issues.

When BLM based sites, or any other smaller Democrat/Liberal sites have their websites slowed down, while Fox News runs like a Ferrari for everyone, the natural tendency of humans, especially ones not too engaged in politics, will be to go where its easiest. I'm sure this is the GOPs main reason. They want to claim irrefutable dominance over the internet like they have successfully done with daytime talk radio. I'm sure that DU will be one of the first to be affected.

And they know it works. Just look at the doc "The Brainwashing of my Dad". If every easy to access news site is right wing fake news conspiracy theories, and it takes 3 minutes to get on fact based sites, guess what? Right now the only thing that can counterbalance the dominance of RW hate radio is the internet. And the GOP can see the writing on the wall, that radio's audience will also eventually move to the net, podcasts, youtube. If they also get the internet, we are doomed.
