Nasas output of climate change information aimed at the public has dwindled under the Trump administration, with a former employee claiming fear and anxiety within the agency has led to an online retreat from the issue.
Laura Tenenbaum, a former science communicator for Nasa, said she was warned off using the term global warming on social media and restricted in speaking to the media due to her focus on climate change.
..................
They have stopped promoting or emphasizing climate science communication, they have minimized it. People inside the agency are concerned Trump will cut climate science funding. There is a fear and anxiety there and the outcome has been chaos.
Tenenbaum said that around a month after Trumps inauguration last year an arduous review process was put in place over every blog post, Facebook post and tweet that she put out from Nasas Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California..................................

Someday maybe we will take the country back, but NASA and all other government employees should consider their jobs gone eventually.

(51,430 posts)He has done so much harm that the media can't keep up. Science, Climate, State Dept., etc have all been drastically cut financially and the staff as well. Why do you think everyone has been protesting? He has been doing this for over a year. There is no money for research and what research they already do have has not been allowed out to the public and their research and their info has been stopped. People have been fired out right or else forced out. Our few foreign allies/scientists are kind enough to share their research with us.
The media is all about Mueller while this is continuing along the managed and designed GOP plan. This is why the GOP protects him, not only are they guilty of complicity and taking Russian and foreign money into the RNC, via Cohen who is still the Deputy Finance Chair or of the RNC, but they are getting rich off of his anti Climate Change/Science policies. CORRUPTION!!!!!

(5,468 posts)After all, they are the agency tasked with pretty much everything having to do with oceans, marine environment, climate, ice, hurricanes, weather, and all associated sciences. (NOAA is the largest agency within the Department of Commerce).
I was a contractor at a NOAA site for many years, and saw how bad it got under Dubya; I can't imagine what those poor hard-working scientists and researchers must be going through under the current mis-administration.

(6,017 posts)Mostly grad students, those placements were how the agency could entice some of the brightest & best. The students who would work their way up to be the next generation of scientists at NASA.
The GOP simply cancelled all of them.
Like many things they are doing to America, this one won't really hit for a number of years.
Sorta like how they simply aren't going to fill so many positions in the Administration. But things like hurricanes and infectious diseases, crop failures, and so on are still going to need experts, professionals, *experienced* people to respond in order to avoid tragedy on a large scale.
They don't care, and that's what scares me most.
