Sheriff hires officer fired for striking suspect with car

Source: ABC News

A police officer in Georgia who was fired after hitting a fleeing suspect with his patrol car wasn't out of work long.

News outlets report Taylor Saulters was hired as an Oglethorpe County sheriff's deputy on Monday, just one day after he was dismissed by the Athens-Clarke County Police.

Police Chief Scott Freeman fired Saulters after reviewing body-camera footage showing he used his patrol car to hit the suspect, who was trying to run from his partner.

Timmy Patmon, who was wanted on felony warrants, was hospitalized with scrapes and bruises before being jailed.

The Sheriff is from some podunk red county who is sending a message that he is tough on crime
and won't rein in his officers under pressure from "Special Interests groups" who are "Politically Correct"
and anti-cop.

I live about two minutes from Oglethorpe County and about five minutes from Athens-Clarke County. The counties bordering Clarke are about as red as it gets. More likely than not, the Sheriff of Oglethorpe saw this as a chance to take a swipe at the evil liberal bastion of Athens and score points with his base.

He would never have gotten fired in the first place. This other Sheriff is saying the officer was doing whatever it took
to stop a known wanted man from escaping and he was punished by a weak Police Chief who bowed to the pressure
of "Special Interest groups" who defend black criminality.

He is saying "F.ck that, we don't knuckle under to liberals and black activists in my county."
