GOP fears midterms backlash from breaking up families at the border

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's policy of taking immigrant children from their parents at the southern border may have been designed to push Democrats to the negotiating table in Congress — but it could end up costing Republican lawmakers.

"Democrats can fix their forced family breakup at the Border by working with Republicans on new legislation, for a change!" Trump wrote on Twitter Saturday. "This is why we need more Republicans elected in November."

But the policy, which has separated some 2,000 children from their parents in just six weeks, could have the opposite effect as anxious Republican lawmakers fear voters may see their party as heartless on immigration and punish them for it in November. And Democrats are driving home that message in emails to supporters and by organizing trips to detention centers.

The issue will "absolutely" be a factor in the midterm elections this fall, said a GOP operative working to elect Republicans to Congress, adding that "the images are devastating" for the GOP.

But, this situation appears to register on it ...

Helps that the admin, scorpion and frog like, had to double down on it/blame it on the evil liberals.

Scratch the anger and righteousness, and you find fear instead of bravery, retreat from reality instead of meeting its challenge with strength and commitment.

for something that he could certainly do something about, that has to seem weak to just about anybody.

You are the President, so act! What about all those Executive Signing Statements? Pull out one of those. It probably wouldn't even take that--just a word or two to the right people.

It's on him and it's on his whole party. Period.

Didn't we used to call this the "Blame Game"?

This is not just something Trump could do something about. It is something Trump caused.

The Democrats are essentially powerless right now. Trump is not listening to us. The only thing he wants from us is our integration into the Republican Party. The policy the world is freaking out about was started by Trump, and it belongs to him.

We shall rub their noses in their own evil shit. They are Neo-Fascists. The political ads will write themselves. I predict that GOP will avoid Labor Day town halls at all costs. They'll only do online town halls, where they can cherry pick the questions.

Steve Bannon is in Europe right now telling Neo-Fasicts to wear the lavel of "racist" as a badge of honor.

Never miss an opportunity to call them Fascists

Backlash from families on the border.
Backlash from gutting Obamacare rather than improving it.
Backlash from women for denying personal choice.
Backlash from millions who would like to see some reasonable form of gun control.
Backlash from the scientific community for denying accepted scientific evidence.
Backlash from those being denied the right to vote due to partisan gerrymandering.
Backlash from farmers and manufacturers for stupid tariff practices.
Backlash from minorities who are and have been under-represented by elected officials.
Backlash from those who still believe in the emoluments clause.
Backlash from millions of Americans who have to endure a total idiot in the Oval Office.
Backlash from those of us who still prefer clean safe water and air.
Backlash from a total endless stream of lies from the Oval Office and cabinet officials.
Backlash from appointment and condonement of corrupt cabinet members.
Backlash from having a communist plant in the Oval Office.
Backlash from being insulted by a president who praises dictators and belittles allies.
Backlash for leading a political party that is complicit in all of the above.
Backlash from condemning the free press.
Backlash from not being able to keep a thought for more than a minute.
Backlash for going to international meetings totally and admittedly unprepared.
Backlash for not having written records of meetings, thereby making true results unobtainable other than by him.

To intentionally hurt children with. They take away their food programs or drastically cuts other program hurting them, and cutting their health care , and harming them and their future with drastic cuts to our EPA hurting all of them even more, and to claim its others doing this is just propaganda , and not the truth about how trump and the gop are truly child abusers. Trump has weaponized his position against the children and the American people now. That's what putin did in russia too.

"The Buck stops Here"? tRump needs a sign saying "The Buck Stops Over There, with the Democrats" since everything wrong is their fault. Little Jefferson Beauregard Sessions looks just delighted with the policy. Grinning from ear to ear like a happy little leprachaun. Quoting bible verses. Only the best people in this administration, but best at WHAT, exactly?

mother is being frisked is destined to be as iconic a photograph as the naked child running from a napalm attack during the VN war. Support for that war began to collapse when the video and pictures of what was happening made their way into the evening news broadcasts. This draconian policy is just now seeping into general public consciousness the same way. John Heilman is right saying that there will only be more cameras, more pictures and more stories. Trump and Rs are truly f****d.

Um, no...I'll go slow for you, Connie. Congress can fix the policy without caving to your concessions should they decide to. Democrats can only fix this on their own if there are more of them, not less.
