See the update below - Trump has said he'll be signing "something" which is apparently this..

Breaking news from the AP, 8 minutes ago.

I've edited the link and source to go directly to the AP story, rather than the tweet seen first.

____

Editing to add a tweet from the AP's Ken Thomas, minutes ago -- says Nielsen is on her way to the White House to discuss this.

[div class"excerpt"]Nielsen is drafting an executive action for Trump that would direct DHS to keep families apprehended at the border together during detention, via @colvinj @ctlong1. Nielsen is on her way to the White House to discuss the issue.

_____

Editing again to post tweet from CBS reporter -- Trump is saying he'll sign this.

[div class"excerpt"]Trump to WH pool: "I'll be signing something in a little while that's going to do that. I'll be doing something that's somewhat preemptive and ultimately will be matched by legislation I'm sure."

It's being drafted by his own HHS. If he were to sign this, it would squarely put the blame for this border situation on HIM -- that he could have rectified this all along, rendering his finger pointing at everything but him, wrong. That doesn't sound like the tRump I know and hate.

However, his contradictory, blameless ass could deflect this by saying he had to sign it, because nobody else would do anything. In his mind that would make him the HERO. Once again, saving the world, he alone blah, blah, blah, while his idiot base laps it up.

So marylandblue, maybe I just talked myself out of disagreeing with you.

And remove them from our government for doing this. If he has no consequences , he always escalates it next time. If any international humane rights violations have been broken , other countries need to join in with charges against them also. This needs to be stopped , and prevented from him doing this ever again by removal from office. If this isn't a high crime against children , what is?

went full Nazi defending it rather than resigning. This is the problem with working for Trump. It is a permanent stain on your life. In Nielsen's case, she went all in on defending an atrocity. There is no escaping that.

for ending a policy that wasn't a policy but a law, didn't exist, and was the Democrats' fault.

So how do they propose to
reunite the kidnap victims with their parents in different states/facilities? Do they even know who they put where? And what of the kidnapped children whose parents have already been deported?

first, and if cheetolini stops this abomination before anyone else can its a better thing for these families.

Hopefully the tangle he and his wove to create this disaster should keep vibrating until November as mistakes get piled on each other and lawyers and headlines point out more and more sordid details in the actions of a basket of deplorables.

I had a Trump supporter tell me about this at lunch and it was in exactly that light, that this was always the policy and Trump is going to fix it. And something about how it started with the Elian Gonzales case back in the 90's and was never Trump's fault.

If zero-tolerance is left in place, then the parents have to be arrested. If the parents are arrested, according to Supreme Court in 1997, their family will have to be separated. Only a vote in Congress can change the law and with Repubs split so only help from Dems can do it. Trump is caught in a real trap.
