NBC: Police Name Annapolis Shooting Suspect as Jarrod Ramos

Source: The Daily Beast

NBC News reported Thursday evening that law enforcement have identified Jarrod Ramos, 38, as the suspected gunman in a deadly shooting at the Capital Gazette's newsroom in Annapolis, Maryland.

According to NBC, Ramos sued the newspaper in 2012 for defamation, but the case was tossed by a judge.

Ramos had a longstanding legal dispute with the news daily. While no political motives were apparent, a September 16, 2015, tweet defended then-candidate Donald Trump from a Capital Gazette editorial labeling him "unqualified."

"Referring to Donald Trump as 'unqualified' could end badly (again)," Ramos tweeted at the time.

but I think I heard it wasn't an automatic weapon and was a shotgun (like I said, I don't know the difference). If this means it wasn't a weapon that people want banned then how do people plan to control guns? ALL GUNS KILL! They are all designed and made and purchased to kill, not brush your teeth with or bake a better loaf of bread.

MARCH FOR OUR LIVES is on a Summer tour/road trip to get support for gun control and register voters. Check out the link and see if an event is coming to your town or if you want to donate, volunteer, etc.

One of the GOPee's dirty little secrets, though, is the effort they've made since the '70s to peel away white Hispanic voters from Democrats by using their old standby: dog-whistle racism.

Around one in four Latin Americans is white - usually descendants of Spaniards, Portuguese, or Italians. In Latin America, to be white is a real privilege. And once in the U.S., the thought of being lumped in with other Latinos can be painful and/or offensive.

Many, as a result, became Republicans: As a way to "distinguish" themselves from darker-skinned Latinos.

I should note that I don't know the least thing about this individual, and of course there are many exceptions to this rule.

Who knows what demons lurk in men's minds.

If the shooter's name is being reported correctly, here is an appellate court decision about his defamation suit against the paper. Sounds like a long-time awful and dangerous person. http://170.99.108.1/appellate/unreportedopinions/2015/2281s13.pdf

Thomas Marquardt, who retired as The Capital’s publisher in 2012 and was named in Ramos’ defamation lawsuit, told the Los Angeles Times that Ramos, “waged a one-person attack on anything he could muster in court against the Capital. I said during that time, ‘This guy is crazy enough to come in and blow us all away.'”

Marquardt told the Times, “The theory back then was, ‘Let’s not infuriate him more than I have to. … The more you agitate this guy, the worse it’s gonna get.’ If it’s him, I’m gonna feel … responsible for this. I pray it’s not him.”

Generally the middle name is used of any mass shooter or serial killer to distinguish them from any other private citizen with the same first and last name.

NEWS OF THE WEIRD

By Chuck Shepherd
Sunday, December 25, 2005
....

THE CLASSIC MIDDLE NAME (ALL NEW FOR 2005!) Once again this year, as a public service, we release this crucial homicide data:

Charged with murder, awaiting trial: Darrell Wayne Maness, 19 (Wilmington, N.C.); Timothy Wayne Ebert, 39 (Cleveland, Tex.); John Wayne Blair, 49 (Sevier County, Tenn.); Derek Wayne Jackson, 18 (Norristown, Pa.); Nathaniel Wayne Hart, 34 (Austin, Tex.); Kenneth Wayne Keller, 42, (Denton County, Tex.); Ronald Wayne Lail, 43 (Burke County, N.C.); Timothy Wayne Condrey, 27 (Caroleen, N.C.); Roy Wayne Russell, 45 (Vancouver, Wash.); Jeremy Wayne Hopkins, 22 (Denton, Tex.); Reginald Wayne Thomas, 23 (Huntsville, Tex.); Matthew Wayne Almand, 18 (Melbourne, Fla.)

Convicted of murder, but found insane: Emmanuel Wayne Harris, 28 (Bisbee, Ariz.)

Sentenced for murder: Tyler Wayne Justice (Alice, Tex.); Douglas Wayne Pepper, 44 (Greensboro, N.C.)

Awaiting a retrial after a judge overturned his murder conviction: Donald Wayne Shipe, 37 (Winchester, Va.)

Committed suicide in a murder-suicide: Eric Wayne Jacobs, 27 (Castroville, Tex.); Michael Wayne Baxter, 30 (Edgewater, Md.)

Executed for murder : Dennis Wayne Bagwell, 41; Lonnie Wayne Pursley, 43; Melvin Wayne White, 55 (all from Huntsville, Tex., the state penitentiary)

Died of a drug overdose while serving two life terms for murder: Russell Wayne Wagner, 52 (Jessup, Md.) (He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery based on Army service in Vietnam. The son of Wagner's victims objected, prompting a congressional review. A 1997 law supposedly bars those convicted of capital crimes from being buried in a national cemetery.)

Final note: Police in New Scotland, N.Y., arrested Corianna Thompson, 45, in April for the murder of her mother, then released her last month without charges while they investigate "additional leads." Thompson's birth name was Corey Wayne Balashek. Before his sex change, he served nine years in prison for the 1981 strangulation of an Albany nurse. Authorities believe Thompson/Balashek is the first American, let alone the first middle-name-Wayne, to be arrested for murder in both genders.
