(1,831 posts)Trump has sucked the air out of the room for discussing anything else. By the time we get rid of him, we may be so far over the climate change tipping point that the only question will be when, and not if, the planet becomes inhabitable within our grandkids' lifetimes.

(19,114 posts)I've started to think that the current fight against a border wall may be hopeless, because once millions of climate refugees start arriving, wealthier nations around the world will be slamming their doors shut.

(13,133 posts)This summer on the edge of the desert in So Cal it's been kind of a cooler summer so far. Even if we were to have a couple of hot months it would have still been cooler than normal. That means that heat went to other places. The temperate predictable weather is going by the wayside.

Burlington, Vt., set its all-time warmest low temperature ever recorded of 80 degrees on July 2.
That's the measure of infrared energy that cannot escape back out into space at night. There's one primary cause, greenhouse gases reflecting that IR energy back towards Earth.
The only question remaining is how long we have before crop failure. A decade? Two? Five?
