This Thai story is wonderful, but we musn't forget the children here who are separated from their families.

Chiang Rai provincial Gov. Narongsak Osatanakorn said the second part of the mission to rescue the others would begin in about 10 to 20 hours after authorities reconvene to assess conditions in the cave and get a briefing on how the initial rescues went.

Once they make it to the third chamber, they will have one hour of rest. Then the rest of the journey will be on foot walking through muddy areas or floating in some areas.

Three of the players and their coach have safely made the harrowing underwater passage out of the cave and were at the hospital, the head of search operations, Narongsak Osottanakorn, said at a news conference on Sunday night.
He said there would be a delay of at least 10 hours until other boys were rescued, to allow time for more air tanks and gear to be replaced along their route.

(205,161 posts)Four Thai boys are the first to be successfully rescued from a flooded cave hours after a complex and dangerous rescue mission commenced, according to Thai navy SEALS.
A spokesperson for the rescue operation told CNN that it would take multiple attempts to rescue all those trapped in the cave. After extracting the four boys, the rescuers resources, such as oxygen, were tapped out and the team was forced to temporarily terminate the mission.
Officials said it could take up to four days to complete the rescue of the remaining eight boys and their soccer coach.
Early Sunday morning, Thai cave divers launched a mission to extract the children and their soccer coach from the Tham Luang cave, who have been trapped underground for more than two weeks.

The rescue operation to extract more boys from the cave is underway, official reports have now confirmed.
Thailands interior ministry said the same divers who went in on Sunday to take out four boys had also gone in on Monday. There are no reports as of yet on their progress.
On Monday, several ambulances have drove by the press centre, about a mile from the cave, and a helicopter flew overhead toward the rescue site.
If the divers move at the same pace as they did yesterday, the first boy will not come out for another three hours.Thailands Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is due arrive at the rescue site at 4pm.
