MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) Montana authorities say a 5-month-old infant survived about nine hours being buried under sticks and debris in the woods.
The Missoula County Sheriff's Office says the baby is in good condition at a hospital and calls it a miracle that the child survived the weekend ordeal.
Authorities say they were called about 8 p.m. Saturday about a man threatening people in the Lolo Hot Springs area of western Montana's Lolo National Forest.
Deputies apprehended the man, who indicated that a baby was buried somewhere in the woods.

That is not a very informative article! (not blaming you, just commenting on the lack of any background info)

(5,810 posts)that invades a mans mind to make him do such a thing. I get that there is mental illness and that there are people who are just beasts. But damn. A 5 month old baby? Please let someone study this dude so we can get some answers. I know some would be inclined to just execute him or lock him up and throw away the key, but we really need to know WHY he did it so we can try to
prevent another monster from being formed.

The other photo, the mug shot. Not so much.
Much peace to the tough little guy and hopes for a strong, steady life in a loving family.

A 5-month-old infant boy was found partially buried on a mountain after sheriff's deputies heard the faint cry of a baby after an hours-long search, authorities said.
"This was a huge miracle and we are thankful to everyone that came out to search and the people who made the 911 calls, Brenda Bassett, a sheriff's department spokeswoman in Missoula County, Montana, told ABC News.
The sheriff's office became aware that a baby might be buried somewhere in a mountainous area after they received a call Saturday night about a man acting strangely in the Lolo Hot Springs area, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff's department.
"Upon arrival, deputies discovered the suspect, 32-year-old Francis Carlton Crowley, had left the area and that a 5-month-old who had been left in his care had not been seen for several hours," the sheriff's office said in the post.

Between this and the story about the 92-year-old guy getting beaten with a brick, I just don't know what to say anymore other than "What the fuck is wrong with people?"

Great work by the authorities!

(38,414 posts)Somewhere...someone said..."Seek and Ye Shall Find".
..no, I don't know where it says that.....or who said that. This place ..."The United States of America," currently has about 330,000,000 people..give or take a million or so...or more...??
Some are very smart, some are very stupid. Some have guns and don't know what to do, some are very careful with their guns and don't hurt anyone and never will. Some are tall, and some are short. We got people with histories from all over the world. It is our way ...(at least it was before Trump)...But if you look around long enough you will find real nut cases. all kinds, all shapes, all backgrounds, all types of nut cases..
We also have wonderful people from all backgrounds, sizes, shapes, and whatever..
If you look far and wide, you find them too.
Most of the nut cases do not hurt anyone but themselves. And they know that and try to get help and survive. Many totally recover and then try to help others who are in need of help...
Some do not recover and continue to just survive.. But a few, are mean, vicious and beyond help. They want to hurt others and do some awful things beyond any imagination...Out of hundreds of millions there will be those too. One example only...........
In 1995 I was coming back from a restaurant with some friends and we turned on the radio, and heard someone had blown up a building and killed many people. Who would blow up a government building on purpose and kill for the sake of killing?. Why?.. Well, it turned out there was someone who did that and he had help from someone else....Where did that person come from? Where did he and the helper get the idea and how did they do it?...That is just one example of a nut case that kills. There are more..but they are very rare..and the good outnumber the bad.
So, here is a positive story about someone who is very good, kind and giving. A fellow who we all know, made an announcement in 2007, that he was going to run for the highest office in the land. An Afro-American fellow, and from Illinois where I live. Now, I liked the fellow, but (still like him a great deal) I never met him. You know, I didn't think he had a chance to win. But he did. He originated and help pass a program that helped people without any health insurance.........and..that program saved countless lives in the United States. So, we got the very best, and we got the very worst....
..................................................................ok....time to hide...
