Calling Putin a ‘Competitor’, Trump Says Russia Meeting Could Be ‘Easiest’ All Week In Remarks Ahead of NATO Summit

by Ken Meyer | 8:17 am, July 10th, 2018

Donald Trump spoke to reporters just before heading off on his trip to Europe, where he suggested that he’s most looking forward to his meeting with Vladimir Putin. The president took a variety of questions pertaining to the upcoming summit in Finland, along with visits to NATO and the UK. During this scrum, Trump said that the meeting with the Russian president “may be the easiest of them all.”

At one point, Trump was asked if Putin should be considered a friend or foe. Trump declined to go with either option, calling Putin a “competitor” instead.

“I think that getting along with Russia, getting along with China, getting along with others is a good thing, not a bad thing,” Trump said. “I’ve said that many times for many years, so we’ll see. We’ll see how that goes.”

Trump interspersed his remarks with defenses of his immigration policy and shots at NATO. The president took shots at NATO earlier today on Twitter, but he decided to get in a few more comments in about how the organization supposedly takes advantage of the U.S.

We might have been able to persuade them that contributing more to NATO was in their own interest given Russia is trying to run the table in Europe.

For 99.999999999% of people on this planet "VERY UNFAIR" is a way of life, asshole. It's only the people who've had every break in the entire fucking world that complain about it. That would be you, Little Donnie, that would be you.

The bill for NATO is a valid and long-standing problem that every American leader since WWII has faced but to fight it out with other allies in open hostility just opens the door to our rivals who will exploit it as a weakness for ends of their own. Trump's ignorance and stupidity are his Achilles' heel and too dumb to know it.

How much does trump pay in his fair share, along with his buddies?

Crooked Hillary laid 40 years of her taxes on the table. How about yours?
