Administration slashes grants to help Americans get Affordable Care Act coverage

Source: Washington Post

The Trump administration is eliminating most of the funding for grass-roots groups that help Americans get Affordable Care Act insurance and will for the first time urge the groups to promote health plans that bypass the law’s consumer protections and required benefits.

The reduction — the second round of cuts that began last summer — will shrink the federal money devoted to the groups, known as navigators, from $36.8 million to $10 million for the enrollment period that starts in November.

Last August, federal health officials announced that they were reducing the navigators’ aid by 41 percent, from $62.5 million, and slashing by 90 percent a related budget for advertising and other outreach activities to foster ACA enrollment.

The new reduction of help for navigators, announced late Tuesday afternoon by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), fits within a pattern of moves by the administration to weaken the sweeping health-care law, which President Trump has vowed to demolish. During his first year in office, Trump pressed the Republican-led Congress to repeal much of the 2010 law, one of President Barack Obama’s signature domestic achievements.

That fucking evil bastard hates anything associated with President Obama so much that he'll gladly screw over millions of Americans to reduce the good impact.

It's becoming abundantly clear that I'm going to have to delay my retirement and continue working several more years at a horrible job because of what Spanky has been doing to our healthcare. When I was in college working on my engineering degrees I never dreamed I'd end up having to work until I die because I couldn't afford to retire..... that's now looking like a realistic possibility.

Damn I hate that bastard with every fiber of my soul.

I had no idea Russia would steal the election for him. If I'd have had a clue, I'd have stayed at work, but that's not an option now and theres no other place nearby where I could make the money I did there. Now I'm reduced to fear for our future and not a lot of resources to do anything about it. I'm especially worried about my husbands' healthcare. He found a really nice affordable plan on Obamacare for this year, but it sounds like drumpf is fucking workers over and stopping the funding for next year. He might be able to pick up a few more hours a week and qualify for insurance at his work but it is awful coverage and very expensive, only covers 5 dr. visits a year, $3000 if you are in the hospital for 5 days but no hospital coverage other than that, no payment for tests or x-rays - and it takes half of his small part time paycheck every month for that.

God, how I wish that fat orange mf'er had never been born, he's fucking over so many people for his personal profit and meanness. Now, I even despair of Mueller being able to bring him down no matter what the evidence of his traitorous actions is since he will shortly have 4-5 sworn enemies of the people on SCOTUS who will cover up for him and keep him in office. Our only hope in that case is Roberts, but that's a very thin hope and only if Mueller presents absolutely overwhelming evidence of anti-american behavior. Such dark sad angry days these are.
