House bill offers $5B for Trump's border wall, security

Source: The Hill

BY NIV ELIS - 07/18/18 10:42 AM EDT

A House spending bill has set aside $5 billion to build President Trump’s proposed border wall, including 200 miles of new physical barriers and technology.

The House Homeland Security appropriations bill for 2019, which was released Wednesday, significantly exceeds the Senate’s version, which allocated $1.6 billion and did not include any new physical barrier.

“This bill takes the largest steps in years toward finally fulfilling our promise to the American people to secure the border,” said Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman Kevin Yoder (R-Kan.).

“We add funding for more than 200 miles of physical barrier, hundreds of new immigration and customs enforcement agents, and state of the art technology that will give our law enforcement agencies the tools they need to keep us safe,” he added.

"I ain't a Mexican! Why do they get out of paying for it - and then you dump it on my ass?" asks the smartest irredeemable deplorable who actually paid attention and didn't just spout punchlines at very Klannish rallies.

No! We can't afford it especially since they'll shred the safety net programs to finance it!

Plus I can just see trump voters getting their land seized by eminent domain and spending even more taxpayer money in court when they sue the government!

Just a few of the issues that come to mind

ETA: all the Russia issues don't mean shit to these people! They're giving trump the boondoggle he wants and business proceeds as usual!

For a stupid wall that can be defeated with a freaking ladder or a tunnel.

$25 million a mile, or almost $4,800 per foot!

Dam repugs, wasting $ that they took away from entitlements to help the helpless of our society just to appease this wretched idiot. Dems need to stall this hideous bill till after election so they can kill it. Hopefully we'll win back the House at that point.

I did a little math the other day on the cost of the zero tolerance policy. Here is what I discovered:

"Gotta make sure the 1%'s tax cuts remain sacred, however! And we haven't even started to
talk about how much kidnapping kids at our border is setting us back. The latest count is
in excess of 3000 kids at $775 per day is almost 2.5 million dollars a day in the
interment camps that have been built. A family of migrants being housed is $319 a day. And
to just add a little perspective, The average daily cost of food stamps per day is $8.00.
I would like for a Republican to explain how their running up the deficit justifies $775
a day to kidnap immigrant kids, but a family on food stamps for $8.00 a day is too much
and needs to be cut. A Senior on food stamps costs $1.40 day. Okay all you trump people,
I'm waiting for your rationalizations!"

3.6 billion for a "new" Airforce one. Billions for tax cuts for the rich. Billions for the Military. 5 Billions for a wall (while kicking people off their land). We are already in a deficit in the trillions.

GOPer's solution. Take well earned safety nets from the middle class and tax the shit of them as well as the poor. Rise cost of living, low paying jobs . . . .

Those power systems include some nuclear operations. So far, the hacks have not been malicious, probably because they were just tests to see how easy it would be to get inside some major systems (extremely easy). We should be investing in upgrading infrastructure like this that poses a far greater risk to national security than some poor people crossing the border from Central America, who mostly just want jobs. It’s beyond ironic that the Texas shrimp industry is losing $1 million per day becasue they do not have enough workers when just down the road in Brownsville there are hundreds of migrants seeking asylum who would eagerly take a low-wage job on a shrimp boat. But we need to send them back to their violent countries, where some of them will undoubtedly be killed, so that we can protect the jobs that Americans don’t want and won’t do. I haven’t seen any out-of-work coal miners migrating to Texas to take these jobs.

...whether Trump is a legitimate president before we spend a wooden nickel more on his wish list.

The Russia Nurturing Cons spent $78 million investigating Whitewater and at least that much on Benghazi and Hillary’s emails. Fair is fair: if we can piss away that kind of money on fake scandals, we can do it for a real one.

How to Build Trump’s Wall - Privatize It

Republicans have often found a way to tax people surreptitiously by privatizing many public works projects to corporations rather than have gov’t pay for it. A fee/toll is a tax under another name.

The corporations/investors are granted a multi-year license with a guaranteed profit.

This could also be done with Trump’s Wall with Mexico.

Corporations/investors front the money to build it and they will be paid by Mexico.

It gives republicans a chance to save the gov’t money by investing in it and show their confidence in Trump’s word that Mexico will pay for it .

No gov’t backed bonds.

No cost to the gov’t,,, no need for taxes,,, profit for the patriotic investors who believe in Trump.

Win win all around.

Even Trump can show his patriotism and shrewd business savvy by investing in it.
