Keith Olbermann's feud with his bosses at Current TV has been resolved -- for now.
Tensions between the "Countdown" host and the leadership at the small network had reached a boiling point last week, as the two sides publicly warred over Olbermann's control of Current's 2012 election coverage.
On Sunday night, Olbermann took to Twitter to announce that he would, in fact, be at the helm of Current's coverage. "I'm pleased to tell you that I'll be running the election coverage on Current, after New Hampshire," he wrote. "Not sure GOP will share my satisfaction."

I never ever thought Russert was anything other than a tool, i couldn't undersstand how everyone went teary eyed over his passing, holding him up as some sort of icon that was so NOT deserved.

Thank you.

(4,868 posts)Whether you like it or not it's TELEVISION not radio. Television is a visual medium and production value goes a long way. If the point is drawing more viewers and getting the message out its not going to happen with a high school news quality production.

I saw some program (Cenk??) with VP Gore. The woman on it did all the talking. I was appaled (sp). When you have a Prez or VP - shut up and let them talk!

(50,251 posts)and VP Gore was more than happy to have her there seeing as he has hired her to join the team at Current. She will be doing a show, starting this month, entitled, "The War Room".
Having her on the panel was a good way to introduce her to those who watch Current but are unfamiliar with Ms. Granholm.
She was great on the panel, imo, and her new show will be very interesting I am sure.
Edited to correct Ms. Granholm's last name.

"Don't trust anyone with an IQ over 30."
Yuck. I have no use for you, fishhead. But don't worry. Our culture is DOMINATED by people who regularly use phrases like "too smart for his own good."
Never mind. Continue hating people who tell jokes you don't get.

(5,599 posts)joke is going to be on Olbermann when is arrogant, spoiled brat act backfires on him. We finally have a liberal channel
trying to get up and running and this guy takes his issues public and threatens to sue Al Gore???
I'll take Colbert over Olbermann for news any day and apples to apples Rachel beats him hands down. He has overplayed his
hand this time.

(692 posts)and I'm afraid you don't know what the word "slur" means. Saying someone is "too smart for their own good" isn't a slur. It's an assessment to be taken on its face value. A slur is an insult, not just a negative conclusion.

I'm happy they've resolved their issues and hope the bugs will be worked out post haste.

(10,117 posts)...Cenk Uygur. I am having trouble watching his show...not my 'cup of tea.'
This whole conflict at Current has been so blown out of proportion, IMO. I am very glad issues were resolved. I want Al Gore and Current to succeed...and I think Keith needs to be listened to. Iowa coverage was EMBARRASSING, and I saw report that only 4000 watched. I was one. It was painful.
Good luck to all at Current. They have the makings of a great, progressive news/commentary outlet...and we need that.

(32,078 posts)Unless you have satellite TV or one of a small handful of cable providers that carry Current, your only chance to see it is via the Internet--if the page that carries it is functioning. The latter is how I watch it. I didn't watch the Iowa caucuses coverage largely because I was sick of hearing about it. Had Keith been involved, I would have watched. But, I don't like Cenk, and to me, it wasn't worth the time to watch.
YvonneCa
(10,117 posts)...and watch regularly.
You didn't miss anything on the Iowa Caucus coverage. It was FOUR HOURS long...too long, IMHO. That structure was wrong...Very few people can sit and chat for that long even if they AREN'T on camera. CNN showed in the background camera angles. Jennifer Granholm showed great promise, and I always like hearing from the former VP...but filling four hours that way was unfair to them.
I have a feeling Keith has much better ideas about structuring the coverage in the future.
GoCubsGo
(32,078 posts)It's supposed to start soon, I believe. Tonight, maybe?
I really don't understand why they made such a big to-do about the whole thing. It's one of many events, and relatively meaningless in the grand scheme of things--certainly not worth 4 hours of coverage.

(46,585 posts)Truthfully I cringed reading about this so-called feud between Current TV and Keith. Al Gore gave Keith an amazing deal at Current and I hope Keith remembers that when he gets his knickers in a twist.

You know, as I recall, a lot of very smart people, who are perfectionists, are hard to get along with. I suppose Keith is one of them. That doesn't make him a bad person, he just wants things done right.

(7,006 posts)Look I do like Keith. I even supported him during his issues with MSNBC. In the end, Current TV and Al Gore gave K.O. one heckva deal. Not only did K.O. get a awesome title....but a nice salary to go along with it too. With that, he needs to claim down the "fare up" moments...seriously!
Taking his issues with Current publicly was unnecessary. He should have worked it out PRIVATELY with Gore. Current is trying to get started. They are struggling to pull viewers off of MSNBC (like it or not, the viewers are there....not CNN and heck no, not Faux). Heck, even being a fan of K.O.'s on MSNBC, I have to admit, after about a month and a half.... Lawrence O' Donnell won my viewership. I still follow his show at 10PM EST.
To end my point, if this continues to be K.O.'s M.O. with Current and Gore....Gore should let him open that door and tell him don't let it hit K.O. on the way out. You are a EMPLOYEE K.O.....You don't own the network. You got a great title, salary and a format to report nearly what you please. Chill out already!

I quit watching him in 2008.
Haven't missed his ego, or his commentary or his drama.
Perhaps Current will find a way to put him back on the sports desk.
