They sided with the GOP on information disclosure. If they were even going to hold out for awhile they'd have sided with more information disclosure.
Personally, I think this is a lost battle and one not worth fighting. If RBG dies, I would endorse going life and death over that vacancy. Things are trending good for midterms lets not screw it up over a fight we can't win. I support the Dems in tight races making whatever vote they need to. Winning is #1 to me.

Rand Paul took a stand, consequences be damned. And Senate Republicans are livid about it.

If he is a YES on the nomination, who else can we get? Collins? Murkowski?
We need at least one.

(11,613 posts)I don't even think they can keep the red state Dems like Manchin, Heitkamp, and even McCaskill together on this. The more exposure they can get for just how much it stinks could help rob Trump of a political victory from it and help motivate blue turnout in an off year though so I think they are right to fight like hell.

(180 posts)Paul was supposed to last a little longer before he took a dive. He was supposed to be a professional and know how this worked. He was supposed to pretend being the last line of defense over some unspecified "libertarian" principle. Then milk the media for a bit, and play it up for the ratings. At least hold out long enough for some secret little bit of pork rind crumbs to be tossed his way, so he could appease the yokels back home about how hard he works for them (on TV, of course).
Then when everyone was at the edge of their seats, pull that "Aye" vote out of his nether regions and save the day for team red. Red is quite the color for them these days. It goes well with their throw-back CCCP uniforms when they play rec league sports.
