Florida bystander shoots gunman who opened fire at festival

Source: AOL

TITUSVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A bystander who was lawfully carrying a firearm shot a gunman who had started firing at a back-to-school festival along Florida's Space Coast.

Florida Today reported Monday that the gunman was shot in the head and airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police haven't yet identified the gunman from Saturday's shooting at the "Peace in the City" festival in Titusville.

Authorities say he got into a fistfight earlier in the day and returned to the park with a gun and opened fire. School supplies were handed out at the festival and there were around 150 people in the area when the shooting started.

The bystander was cooperating with investigators and wasn't expected to face charges. No one else was injured.

14. Exactly. Need someone with a gun to defend against someone with a gun. Vicious circle.

If no guns wouldn't need guns to defend ourselves from guns.

is their precious NRA probably had as much to do with the availability of the bad guy's gun as they did with the availability of the good guy's gun.

I'm not even going to begrudge the NRA an apparent victory on this one. I don't care how it ended as long as this didn't turn into yet another mass killing. Thank goodness this hero was there to stop him. I don't think I have the courage to do it, and neither do most people who carry a gun. After all, had he missed, he'd have been the gunman's next target.

I'm not a fan of today's concealed weapon laws, but when someone pulls a gun to exact harm on others, that person should realize the fact it could be the last move of their life.

this is just bad all around. I don't care that the gunman was shot.
It was a back to school event?

I just can't.

I oppose the idea of everyone carrying a gun but in this instance, the bystander did save alot of people from being shot. If you've seen some of my older posts, you'll know that I hate guns.
