Reactions to the death of Senator John McCain

Source: Reuters

UPDATED 91 MINUTES AGO

GERMAN CHANCELLOR ANGELA MERKEL
“John McCain was guided by the firm conviction that the value of all political work could be found in serving freedom, democracy and the rule of law. His death is a loss for all who share that conviction.”

BRITISH PRIME MINISTER THERESA MAY
“John McCain was a great statesman, who embodied the idea of service over self. It was an honour to call him a friend of the UK. My deepest sympathies go to his family, and the American people.”

FRENCH PRESIDENT EMMANUEL MACRON
“John McCain was a true American hero. He devoted his entire life to his country. His voice will be missed. Our respectful thoughts go to his beloved ones.”

CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER JUSTIN TRUDEAU
“Senator John McCain was an American patriot and hero whose sacrifices for his country, and lifetime of public service, were an inspiration to millions. Canadians join Americans in celebrating his life and mourning his passing.”

I have deliberately snipped quotes from "foreign" leaders, as most of them care much more about our country than the traitor masquerading as POTUS.

Godspeed, John Sidney.

1. All of them mention McCain's accomplishments and/or character. Trump does neither.

Trump just issued a generic, curt "condolences to the family" tweet. Pathetic.

2. Trump is no doubt angry that McCain was respected by other world leaders.

He nurses jealousy of other's accomplishments. That is why he hates President Obama. He knows that Obama is his intellectual and moral superior. He hated McCain for the same reason. McCain, for all is faults and political views that ran contrary to what democrats hold dear, was a decent man who loved his country and put his honor and his country before himself. McCain could also admit to his own failings and shortcomings. And Trump fairs pitifully in comparison.

From Mike Pence: "Meh!"

From Eric Trump: "Where are my building blocks?"

"Putin is not America's friend, nor merely a competitor. Putin is America's enemy — not because we wish it so, but because he has chosen to be."
- John McCain, July 12, 2018
