Trump reportedly wants to hit China with tariffs on $200 billion worth of goods, which would be a ma

Source: Business Insider

President Donald Trump is ready to take the trade war with China to the next level, according to a new report.

Bloomberg reported Thursday that Trump had told aides that he wants to follow through on a threat to impose tariffs on another $200 billion worth of Chinese goods as early as next week. That would mean more than half of all Chinese imports would be subject to tariffs.

The tariffs could go into effect after the public-comment period ends on September 6.

According to the report, the move is not a done deal and the administration could impose the tariffs in installments to lessen the impact. Economists have warned that substantially ramping up the trade war would increase costs for US businesses and harm American companies.

just getting more from everywhere else at the same price...and about to do the same with LNG of which America is the major supplier...thing is when you have a huge trade deficit it is the nation with the huge trade surplus that obviously will suffer less!

But over the years, starting with the Trading With the Enemy Act of 1917, they've abrogated that power to an increasingly imperial presidency - and now, here we are.

Trump is not unlike any other GOP President...the debt warriors ("won't somebody PLEASE think of the children????&quot , so urgent and critical when Democrats are fixing their inherited messes (see Clinton cirica 1993-1994 or Obama circa 2008-2009), suddenly become the equivalent of economic terrorists when they are in power.

Tax cuts for the rich
Cuts to social programs
Nothing for working people
Profligate Military spending

Bush and Trump (and previously Reagan) are doing exactly what they always do - wrecking the economy on failed ideological grounds, running up debts and decreasing competition and competitiveness of American manufacturers on the open markets and then creating recessions (or the next one I fear will be a "Greater Depression"...I am trademarking the slogan now...MDGA - "Made Depressions Great Again).

Second verse? Same as the first!

Yeah, go ahead, asshole.

I was talking to a old friend that is a died-in-the-wool Trumpanzee (that's why he's an "old" friend). I was talking about how the soybean crop looked exceptionally abundant this year, but I wondered if they'll be able to sell them. He had no idea what I was talking about. He didn't know that Trump had put tariffs on things, and that China retaliated by not buying soybeans. He didn't know anything about the $12 billion Trump promised to give to the farmers as a handout.

I've come to the conclusion that most Trumptards have no idea how badly he's harming our country, and that's due almost exclusively to their predilection for FOX Noise. And they actually believe they're well informed voters. They don't know jack!

Trump promised $12 billion to the soy farmers, but will only be delivering $4 billion to them. We'll see if even that turns out to be another lie.

He wants to impose 25% on Canadian cars and car parts on Saturday if there is no "deal" Friday, a week before the Sept 6 date mentioned in the excerpt in the OP.

tRump has more to lose in these trade disputes he has created than the other sides. But is he smart enough to figure that out? In time before the midterms?

Third Quarter results are due in October, which may show a drop in business activity because everyone was rushing to get metals imports and exports in and out of the doors before the close of Second Quarter because tariffs came in at the end of it. That artificially created a bulge that made the Second Quarter look good.
