GOP Lawmaker Tweets Out Reporter's Number After Questioning on Membership in Racist Facebook Group
Source: Mediaite
A Republican lawmaker tweeted out an Associated Press reporters cell phone number after he received a question about his involvement in a racist Facebook group.
AP reporter Ryan Foley emailed Iowa Rep. Rod Blums press aide on Friday asking about the Congressmans involvement in the Tea Party Facebook group, a group administered by Citizens for Trump National Tea Party Director Mike Michaels that regularly posts far-right conspiracy theories and racist posts.
Foley noted that Rep. Ron DeSantis had claimed he was not aware he was a member of group and Foley questioned what Blums explanation for his involvement may be.
Foley replied by tweeting out a screenshot of the request, leaving the reporters cell phone number at the bottom.

(5,969 posts)The number is the same the reporter published on his Twitter page so it was already out there. The motivation to make all of the info public is clear, though. Intimidation tactics to silence the press.
Funnily, checking out the reporter's twitter page, it's not the first encounter with this Congressman. Earlier this year, the same Congressman claimed ignorance as well about a company that lists him as the CEO...

TOM BOGGIONI 31 AUG 2018 AT 07:58 ET
With Republicans facing what many are calling a blue wave of Democrats taking control of the House and possibly the Senate the Republican Party is cutting off funding to some incumbents whose races appear to be a lost cause under an increasingly unpopular president.
According to Politico, GOP officials feel that up to 45 Republican-held seats are now at serious risk, and are making plans to shut down support for incumbents whose campaigns are going nowhere and have failed to do much on their own to raise much-needed campaign donations.
This is the time of year when tough decisions have to be made, Ken Spain, a longtime former top National Republican Congressional Committee staffer, told Politico. There are likely going to be a number of unhappy Republican members of Congress in the coming weeks.
According to the report, the party is looking at polling to determine whom to weed out, with Rep. Barbara Comstock (VA), Rep. Keith Rothfus (PA), and Rep. Rod Blum (IA) reportedly on the funding chopping block............

Iowa Rep. Rod Blum quits interview over town hall questions
By THOMAS BEAUMONT - Associated Press - Tuesday, May 9, 2017
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa Rep. Rod Blum stormed out of a TV interview when pressed about why he screens those who attend his public meetings. He then held a town hall, where he was booed and jeered by constituents angry over his vote to repeal the 2010 federal health care law.
The second-term Iowa Republican and member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus later said he had been ambushed by the television news reporter who was questioning him.
The televised exchange in front of a group of young schoolchildren and the contentious forum that followed at Dubuque Senior High School were a glimpse at the tension facing some House members, especially since last weeks vote to gut major portions of the Affordable Care Act, which is also known as Obamacare.
Im done this is ridiculous, Blum said two minutes into an interview with Cedar Rapids station KCRG which was shot during a visit to the Dubuque Dream Center, which helps poor, mostly black, children in Blums hometown of Dubuque.
Reporter Josh Scheinblum first asked Blum why he requires audience members at his public meetings to provide identification. Blum answered that it was to ensure they were from Iowas First District, a 20-county expanse of northern and eastern Iowa that also includes Cedar Rapids, Waterloo and wide tracts of farm land.

Still, despite the one-two punch of walking out on a bunch of elementary school kids, and getting heckled by a high school auditorium of angry constituents, Blum attempted to put a good spin on his bad day, tweeting that his town hall was a great discussion!
