Parkland survivor and gun control activist David Hogg has teamed up with the liberal Mad Dog PAC to raise thousands of dollars for an anti-Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) billboard in Texas.
A GoFundMe page organized by Hogg and Claude Taylor, the chairman of Mad Dog, topped its $6,000 fundraising goal, raising nearly $10,000 in less than 24 hours.
President Donald Trump will be campaigning to help Sen. Ted Cruz win his re-election, the page reads. A rally is being planned, according to Trump at the biggest stadium in Texas. We are planning to display the presidents own words about Cruz from 2016 on a mobile billboard, to remind Texans of the truth.
The proposed sign will feature a February 2016 tweet from Trump criticizing Cruz as an all talk, no action politician.

(18,624 posts)It seems they want something that can follow Cruz on the trail. If indeed Cruz's support lies in rural areas, it would be hard to erect enough of them in BFE.
That said, $10k seems like a lot for one rolling billboard. Perhaps they'll make more than one and move them around.

(14,725 posts)We can't even get a regular Democratic candidate ad up around here. The companies say if they accept one, that their business will go under once the sign's Dem's usage is finished. No one else will rent from them. Maybe in the big city areas. Just maybe. Hope so.

Incumbent Republican Cruz, who is embroiled in a heated U.S. Senate race with Democrat Beto O'Rourke, received the endorsement of President Donald Trump via Twitter Friday.
The president said he will hold an October political rally for Cruz, who he had once labeled "Lyin' Ted" during their 2016 GOP presidential campaign fight. Hogg and Mad Dog PAC chief Claude Taylor set up a GoFundMe which already raised double the $6,000 needed to put up a billboard at the rally showing Trump's negative remarks about Cruz from 2016.
The billboard will be placed at "the biggest stadium in Texas," where Trump's words would read, "Why would the people of texas support Ted Cruz when he has accomplished absolutely nothing for them. He is another all talk, no action pol!"
Trump's tone changed dramatically Friday, when he took to Twitter to endorse the fellow Republican ahead of his close upcoming election. "I will be doing a major rally for Senator Ted Cruz in October. Im picking the biggest stadium in Texas we can find. As you know, Ted has my complete and total Endorsement. His opponent is a disaster for Texas - weak on Second Amendment, Crime, Borders, Military, and Vets!" Trump tweeted Friday.............................................
