Nazi -Saluting Protester Convicted In Germany

Source: Newsweek

By Damien Sharov, 2 hrs. ago.

Germany has convicted a man for hate speech and assault after giving a Nazi salute at a far-right rally in the country's east. The case, one of several fast-tracked by a district court in the city of Chemnitz, follows a wave of anti-migrant demonstrations that took place two weeks ago. Of those arrested for alleged offenses made while taking part in the unrest, the first verdict arrived on Thursday.

The court sentenced a 33-year-old man, whose name was not given, to eight months probation and fined him $2,300 for making the gesture once used by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, German broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported.

The event took place following the death of a German man, in which one of the wanted suspects is an Iraqi male. Two men are in police custody and media reports have claimed they had Syrian and Iranian documents. A handful of fringe groups quickly pounced on the public outrage and sparked a rally that turned violent.

The march was organized by Germany's resurgent anti-migrant and anti-establishment Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in conjunction with two other political groups, namely anti-Islam movement PEGIDA and the local nationalist group Pro Chemnitz...More...

A 33-year-old has been convicted of hate speech and assault after displaying a banned Nazi greeting at a far-right rally. The district court in Chemnitz is fast-tracking trials related to the recent unrest in the city.

- "Chemnitz Protester Convicted Over Hitler Salute," DW (Deutsche Welle), Sept. 13, 2018.

A German court on Thursday sentenced a 33-year-old man to eight months probation and a fine of 2,000 ($2,300) for making the Hitler salute during far-right protests in Chemnitz. The conviction comes just two weeks after a wave of violent anti-migrant demonstrations and counterprotests broke out in the eastern German city. It is the first sentence relating to the unrest.

The man had been accused of displaying the publicly banned greeting during a march on September 1, which was organized by the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, the anti-Islam PEGIDA movement and the ethno-nationalist Pro Chemnitz group. He was convicted of using symbols of a banned organization, assaulting law enforcement and attempted assault. Read more: Chemnitz and Kandel: How hashtags shape German politics.

The district court in Chemnitz has implemented fast-track criminal procedures in order to process all the suspects charged with violating Germany's stringent hate-speech laws. The Hitler salute, swastikas and other Nazi symbols are all strictly prohibited in public. On Friday, a 34-year-old also faces trial on the same charge.

Politicians in Berlin have praised the city for dealing with crimes so efficiently. Stephan Harbarth, the Bundestag vice-chair for Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU), called it "a good signal ... it shows that our constitutional state works."...READ MORE, https://www.dw.com/en/chemnitz-protester-convicted-over-hitler-salute/a-45475528

The demonstrations were sparked by a deadly brawl that broke out in the German city of Chemnitz in the early hours of Sunday (August 26). What started out as a war of words resulted in a 35-year-old man being stabbed to death. Hours later, spontaneous, anti-migrant protests took over the streets of Chemnitz.

If it were, we would have to wonder how many people would be doing it if it were legal. I like it when these assholes stand up and identify themselves for all to see.

and they all will eventually.

That's why I do not want conceal carry. If someone wants to carry I want to know about it. And then we can work at disarming them after everybody else sees who it is that wants to pack. It'll be easier to accomplish after that.

They get a marker where they're buried, period. The extraneous statuary all comes down from all public land and places.
