Tentative Deal Reached for Kavanaugh Accuser to Testify on Thursday

Source: New York Times

WASHINGTON -- The Senate Judiciary Committee and lawyers for the woman who has accused Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were teenagers reached a tentative agreement on Saturday for her to publicly testify on Thursday, an apparent breakthrough in halting negotiations.

After a brief call late on Saturday, the lawyers and aides to Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, the Republican chairman of the Judiciary Committee, planned to talk again Sunday morning to continue negotiations over the conditions of the testimony, according to three people familiar with the call. Aides to Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, the committee's top Democrat, were also involved.

Negotiations could still falter over those details, which include who will question the woman, Christine Blasey Ford. But in tentatively agreeing to a Thursday hearing, Republicans made a significant concession that suggested they were working to ensure that the session occurred after several days of uncertainty.

If no final deal is made, Mr. Grassley will be left to decide on Sunday whether to move ahead with a committee vote on Judge Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination scheduled for Monday. Judge Kavanaugh, who has vehemently denied the allegations, has repeatedly expressed his desire to testify.

As a note - the previous reports of the negotiations had indicated a Wednesday testimony and this latest status just came through as a breaking news.

(wonder if this breakthrough is related to the recent Michael Bromwich move to join her legal team)

Are they not members of the Federalist Society? The ones who have picked Kavanaugh and the federal and state judges that shithole chose. The ones that is working with Russia in stealing elections.

The Latest: Kavanaugh, Ford agree to testify on Thursday

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and a woman accusing him of sexually assaulting her decades ago (all times local):

7:55 p.m.

A tentative agreement has been reached for the Senate Judiciary Committee to hear testimony Thursday from Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the woman accusing him of sexual assault from decades ago. That’s according to a person briefed on the matter who isn’t authorized to discuss it by name.

The person says that lawyers for Christine Blasey Ford and bipartisan representatives of the committee came to the tentative agreement Saturday. Other terms of the public hearing will be negotiated Sunday.

The tentative accord could close days of brinkmanship over whether Ford would testify.

Ford alleges Kavanaugh assaulted her at a party when they were teens. Now an appeals court judge, Kavanaugh denies the allegations. He has said he wants to testify as soon as possible to clear his name.

But I'm not seeing anything about an FBI investigation. If you have, please let me know.

and the GOP Senators have the report from that investigation and are withholding it due to its damaging contents. They already knew about the allegations but went ahead with confirmation hearings anyway.

I will also predict more women will come forward. (It's never just one, is it?)

particularly since they withheld most of the Bush era docs from the Democrats until they dumped a huge pile the weekend before the hearing.

Apparently he was notorious enough to get a recap in the Yale newspaper a few days ago (link to this tweet from an LBN thread) -

And a lot more on kavanuagh will soon be exposed , then his nomination will be over. Either way he's toast because it'll be exposed either before , or if he's voted in he'll be exposed and removed. They have no choice now but to move away from him, or be brought down more in the midterms. kavanuagh is a lost cause now , and they know it.
