Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview broadcast Sunday that he sees a long ways to go to get North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to fully denuclearize.
Here's what I'd say about North Korea, Pompeo said on NBCs Meet the Press." We came in. There was the risk of war. We've taken that threat down by taking the temperature down, by beginning this set of discussions. They have stopped missile firings and nuclear testing. That's all to the good. We got back the remains of some of our soldiers. That's to the good.
Pompeo added, however, that administration officials have their eyes wide open.
There is a long ways to go to get Chairman Kim to live up to the commitment that he made to President Trump and, indeed, to the demands of the world in the U.N. Security Council resolutions to get him to fully denuclearize, he said.

(8,200 posts)My school days taught me that George Washington set an example and code of ethics that the President would be a man of sterling quality. Seems this doesn't apply to Republican candidates as evidenced by Nixon, Reagan and the Bush cabal of law breakers and out right liars. It seems that it like a cancer that is speading to every branch of government including even the Supreme Court.

(7,142 posts)about denuclearization? Let's see what Pompeo just said. Trump escalated the threat of war with NK, then Trump held a photo-op with Kim and claimed to have reduced the threat of war that he initiated.
Kim promised he would denuclearize, how reassuring. What a deal maker.

(17,901 posts)NK has stated recently they're willing to shutdown their missile and nuke sites if the US takes reciprocal action. Kim is just filling in the blank spaces in that rather vacuous "agreement" with Mangofuhrer. So what's the big deal?
