(26,280 posts)I would however caution some restraint in automatically accepting each story that appears until there is more background on the person who's claiming it.
Why? Because I honestly think the Repugnants would try to fake such a story in order to try and use it to defuse these women's claims by exposing the claim as fake in order to try to get the public to think "Since she was lying could the other women be lying to?".
After all look at how some of them like Trump will hire crowds to attend events and cheer and clap for them.

(507 posts)and she is being represented currently by Stan Garnett, a former Democratic, Boulder County (of course) district attorney, now working for a high-powered, private Denver legal firm. This woman is for real.

(26,280 posts)crossing state lines I thought?
If it did not then about the only hope is probably the state and thats only if it has not passed the statute of limitations.
Fords claims is an exception however for the state since there is no statute of limitations in the state where it occurred from what I read for sexually assaulting a minor.

(26,280 posts)or something like that?
Mr.Bill
(24,264 posts)where the general public is not allowed. It also involves verbal if not physical contact with patients. Volunteers are vetted the same as any other hospital employee and attend the same orientation class as employees. I would imagine it's a CYA/liability situation. I don't know what agencies were involved, but I was told they spend $1,400 on the investigation.

(5,857 posts)He de facto has TS/SCI clearance for practical purposes, and will as a SCOTUS member as well. The FBI conducts all background checks.
There is a separation of powers issue though because of the various branches involved, so its not a formal TS clearance.

(17,387 posts)I think it is uncanny how people make the same sort of excuses for Brett Kavanaugh that Brock Turner's father and the Superior Court judge who sentenced Brock Turner made for the Stanford rapist:

20 minutes of action: father defends Stanford student son convicted of sexual assault
The father of a former Stanford University athlete convicted on multiple charges of sexual assault has said his son should not have to go to prison for 20 minutes of action.
Brock Turner, a former swimmer at Stanford University, was on Thursday sentenced to six months imprisonment and probation for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.
The 20-year-old from Dayton, Ohio who was convicted of three felonies, including assault with intent to rape faced a maximum of 14 years in prison.
But Turner was expected to spend only three months of a six-month sentence in county jail after the judge, Aaron Persky, said positive character references and lack of a criminal record had persuaded him to be more lenient. Prison would have a severe impact on him, the judge said.
