The GOP plan to fight "foggy memories" around Kavanaugh
Source: Axios
Brett Kavanaugh's allies plan to aggressively contest what they call the "foggy memories" of his accusers an approach that's likely to lead to nasty confrontations at Thursday's showdown hearing on his confirmation to the Supreme Court.
What's happening: The plan is to fight back right away, and to emphasize denials and hazy recollections. And the mission is to portray the debate as cheap-shot politics orchestrated by liberals and abetted by the media.
Republicans see two silver bullets, one for each case:
- In the high school allegation by Christine Blasey Ford, three others said to be at the party have no recollection of it.
- In a second case, The New Yorker last night quoted Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez as saying Kavanaugh had exposed himself to her when they were freshmen. The New York Times reported that it had "interviewed several dozen people over the past week in an attempt to corroborate her story, and could find no one with firsthand knowledge."

(7,142 posts)The NY Times shouldn't be the people doing the investigation, they certainly fucked up the Iraq war. The NY Times should be calling for the FBI to investigate if it is truly an independent nonpartisan organization.

(7,142 posts)I guarantee that your memory will be foggy too. Who bought all of this alcohol for these kids? The parties were at private homes. Journalism isn't repeating Republican talking points that the victims, "WHO WERE DRUGGED, had foggy memories.

(7,142 posts)that Bill Cosby is being sentenced right now. Many of his "drugged" victims had foggy memories of what happened. Some of his victims had no memories, they passed out and woke up raped. Did the NY Times use the foggy memory argument against Cosby's victims?
Republicans, with the help of the M$M, are going all in for Kavanaugh because he is the Federalist Society chosen one. He will ensure our country becomes an authoritarian/fascist nation. The threat from appointing Kavanaugh is not just what he will do to women, it's what he will do to our country.
