Senators told to expect to be in town this weekend for Kavanaugh

Source: The Hill

Republican senators have been told they should expect to be in town this weekend to process Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court as he battles sexual misconduct claims, according to a GOP senator.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) told his colleagues at a Senate GOP lunch on Tuesday to prepare to be in session this weekend, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) told reporters.

“They did tell us to plan to be here this weekend,” Corker said.

Asked about the timing on a Kavanaugh vote, Corker said “the timetable is what’s been laid out,” referring to announcements of a final vote likely Tuesday.

plain and simple. They wouldn't hold the vote if they thought they would lose.

Forget collins and murkowski, it's all a kubucki dance. they were always going to vote yes.

I wouldn't think they have the votes.

However, putting that aside, perhaps they want to end this one way or another, sooner rather than later. Surely, they must understand what this is doing to the already beleaguered standing of the Rs.

Senate Republicans are eyeing a vote on the floor on Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination next week.

GOP Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), the No. 2 GOP senator and member of leadership, told reporters that if Kavanaugh could get out of the Judiciary Committee on Friday they would be able to be done with the nomination "by the first part of next week.”
