Pa. lawmaker attacked for stolen vote story in support of voter ID
Source: Philadelphia public radio WHYY
During the voter ID debate earlier this year, O'Neill said he'd once showed up at his Warminster polling place and found someone had already signed in and voted in his place.
After repeated calls about the incident, O'Neill changed his story, telling the Philadelphia Daily News there was once some confusion at his polling place, but that he'd been allowed to vote, and the problem was due to human error.
He said he'd felt pressured to tell the stolen vote story by fellow Republicans, and that he will correct the record when the Legislature returns this fall.

(5,523 posts)I live in a very red (and very poor area) area of New York. Most rethuglican candidates run un-opposed. I can't even put up a sign without it being torn down within 24 hours. Once when I showed up to vote, someone had already signed their name on my space and voted. It was obviously a different signature. The elderly ladies didn't bat an eye and had me sign somewhere else and I went into the old lever machine and voted.

Lying is such a part of the GOP psyche that their pols don't even blush when caught red-handed. Jebus, this fool even admits he was pressured into lying. So he's a freaking liar AND a craven little sissy boy besides -- and this is what the people of Pa. will return to office?
Excuse me, I feel my breakfast coming up.

(3,655 posts)I had one try to claim that 10 people who had the address of a laundromat were vouched for and voted. I pointed out that you also need a recent utility bill from that address with you name on it. It was BS.

(30,058 posts)They wanted proof of Obama's birth certificate, got and then cried forgery. Now they are crying voter fraud, they are losers. They are becoming a minority because of alienation of hispanic and blacks and with "smart" whites refusing to believe the lies the repubs their share is even less. They have the crazy Todd Akin type, they should be proud of their crazy members.

(11,093 posts)The Republicans don't give a shit about voter fraud. What they do give a shit about is minimizing voter support for their opponent, and since minorities and poor tend to vote more Democrat, they want to suppress their vote. To have a voter ID means presenting a birth certificate or driver's license or something similar, but the poor don't usually have passports, may not have a birth certificate around, may not be able to get a replacement, may be in the city and not have a driver's license (or afford the insurance), and so forth. Thus, obtaining a voter ID puts a number of obstacles in their way, making it onerous to vote, which they believe benefits their candidate.

(793 posts)re-education camps. for lairs, RePUGs, and used car salesmen.
I mean a fib here or there, most of us do, but not as often as these RePUGs. It is good though that some of these lairs are once in while admitting their happy horse shit!
I still think that camps might be OK, although we would have to pay the correctional staff big money.
Can I spell slight sarcasm?

(7,402 posts)Once I had an issue where at first it looked like someone had impersonated a voter but it only took several seconds to resolve what happened. It was a father/son issue where they had the same name. It turned out that one name was the last name on one registeration page while the other name was the first name on the next registeration page. When the first voter came in the Jr/Sr thing was missed so they signed on the wrong line. When the 2nd voter came it and had ID with a signature that didn't match it briefly caused a panic attack. I remember just staring at the page for a couple of seconds before paying closer attention and seeing the Jr/Sr thing, flipped the page and saw the 2nd name. That was a big relief, believe me. I obviously allowed that person to vote and I presume I wrote a note on the registeration page explaining the flip/flop.
