“Cocaine godmother” Griselda Blanco gunned down in Colombia, media reports say

Griselda Blanco, the drug kingpin known for her blood-soaked style of street vengeance during Miami’s “cocaine cowboys” era of the ’70s and ’80s, was shot to death in Medellin by motorcycle-riding assassins Monday, according to Colombian press reports.

Blanco, 69, spent nearly two decades behind bars in the United States for drug trafficking and three murders, including the fatal shooting of a 2-year-old boy shot in Miami in 1982.

Known as “The Godmother of Cocaine,” she was deported to Colombia in 2004.

According to Radio Caracol and two newspapers, El Espectador and El Tiempo, two gunmen on motorcycles unleashed a fatal hail of gunfire as she walked out of a butcher shop in Medellin, her hometown.

“It’s surprising to all of us that she had not been killed sooner because she made a lot of enemies,” former Miami homicide detective Nelson Andreu, who investigated her, said late Monday. “When you kill so many and hurt so many people like she did, it’s only a matter of time before they find you and try to even the score.”

They make it seem as if she was whacking people to do drug trade, she actually just liked having people killed.

This is the kind of person who'd kill someone and mutilate them for fun.

She was the real reason the drug war heated up.

I hope she was, for even a split second of time, terrified out of her wits.

What comes around, goes around...freak.

If the documentaries we have all seen are true, her bloodthirsty "methods" really caused things to get out of hand in Florida in the 80's and change the way the government fought the drug war due to the sheer body count caused by this nut job... IMHO, she gave the government the reason to curtail our freedoms to this day, not to mention how much money we have wasted over the years on the drug war(s).

Can't believe this POS lived to 69 whilst literally thousands died because of her.

See Ya!!!

I'm surprised she lasted this long, she pissed off a lot of "the wrong people" in Colombia in addition to her atrocities in the US.
