Romney On Whether We’re Better Off: ‘Of Course It’s Getting Better’

Source: Think Progress

INGRAHAM: You’ve also noted that there are signs of improvement on the horizon in the economy. How do you answer the president’s argument that the economy is getting better in a general election campaign if you yourself are saying it’s getting better?

ROMNEY: Well, of course it’s getting better. The economy always gets better after a recession, there is always a recovery. […]

INGRAHAM: Isn’t it a hard argument to make if you’re saying, like, OK, he inherited this recession, he took a bunch of steps to try to turn the economy around, and now, we’re seeing more jobs, but vote against him anyway? Isn’t that a hard argument to make? Is that a stark enough contrast?

ROMNEY: Have you got a better one, Laura? It just happens to be the truth.

expose their bullshit and then rip their guts out. It's the only way. Use their playbook against them. Obama has, that's why there is so much hatred for him now.

The answer is supposed to be NO

Make an ad showing this:

Ingraham: "How do you answer the president’s argument that the economy is getting better in a general election campaign if you yourself are saying it’s getting better?

ROMNEY: Well, of course it’s getting better.

Ingraham: Is that a stark enough contrast?

ROMNEY: Have you got a better one, Laura? It just happens to be the truth."

Visuals: people at work - police, teachers, firefighters, farmers, parks...
workers and patrons in restaurants, stores, hair salons, farm markets

I think Mitt has tax problems and is getting distracted

They need to add the clip of him from the Convention asking the question
then come in with this interview.
where he answers his own question
ROMNEY: Well, of course it’s getting better....

They make that commercial and run it in swings that's powerful

9. Big Ed played the clip on his program last night.

It was an excellent show. Ed had great video and sound clips of GOPers in their own words to discredit and contradict their latest statements.

It was the political equivalent of grabbing Romney by the wrist and punching him in the face with his own fist.

Since then Romney shook the political Etch-a-Sketch and wrote: "worse off".

It's incredible how well he's making that work for the GOP base. When I first heard his campaign manager reveal the strategy, I figured there's no way that'll work. I made the famous quote: "the American people are smarter than that". It appears I once again underestimated the great power of collective stupidity and ignorance.

Why in the name of all things holy would Mitt Romney want to remind America what a colossal mess Obama inherited in 2009? What kind of demented moran (sic) would invite Obama to answer the question as to whether we're better off today than we were four years ago, knowing full well what the answer would be.

BTW -- When your conservative co-worker or relative poses the question, here's the answer:

General Motors is still alive and Osama Bin Laden is still dead.
