Warner says Trump riding economic "sugar high" ahead of midterms, warns of "hangover" in 2019

Source: CBS News

Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia urged voters in Tuesday's midterm elections to elect a Democratic Congress as a "check" on President Trump, despite a seemingly robust economy.

"I think one thing people realize is that we're in a sense riding a sugar high from a $2 trillion tax cut that was unpaid for," Warner said Sunday on "Face the Nation" when asked why voters would want to change course. "Now, the economy is doing pretty well right now, I grant that. I think the hangover is going to be pretty bad as we go into next year, but we can debate that later."

Friday's jobs report from the Labor Department showed businesses created 250,000 new jobs in October and wages increased 3.1 percent from last year, the highest jump in nine years. Unemployment stands at 3.7 percent, the lowest it's been in nearly 50 years.

But Warner said he believes "many, many people realize we need a check on this president, and we've seen evidence of that in the last three weeks, when this president was not able to bring the country together after the shootings or the bombing attempts."

All this good news is a testament to President Obama and his economic team, nothing more. Give Tiny's 'fixes' enough time to work and the economy will tank every bit as bad as it did under W.

He got elected in an economy that was improving already, and immediately him and his supporters that had been acting as if the economy was collapsing decide to notice the improvements.

What is he "granting"??? I said it in a post below...THIS IS OBAMA's ECONOMY which, unfotunately, will go down by mid-2019,even if Democrats win the house and the senate, its going to take a while to rebuild.

to reduce the national debt. Especially when he uses tax payer monies like a personal piggybank for him and his family.

THIS IS NOT TRUMP'S OR THE REPUBLICAN'S ECONOMY, what is coming IS, because the economy is going down.

Why would he "grant" the economy to any of them, they had nothing to do with it, its Obama's economy which he rescued from the chaos that GW Bush left behind, and the numbers that are coming out, the forecasts do not look good. I have been predicting that the economy will tumble by mid-2019, the Real Estate market is already suffering, September was the worst month, and I am sure October will be too. The very annoying thing is that most of the Real Estate organizations in the country "recommend" voting for republicans...what have republicans done for the Real Estate industry?

We had no where to go but up. So Obama's admin. came in, cleaned up the Republican's mess, Trump gets 'elected', and claims responsibility for the ''great'' economy he's given us. Nothing Trump touches is successful. Nothing. He's a lying sack of pig shit.

What trump and the gop did was they were bribed by wealthy donors to give them their huge tax breaks , or else they wouldn't finance their campaigns again, or bribes, and cut a trillion out of Medicaid, a half a trillion out of Medicare, and billions out of Social Security to pay for some of it. Then businesses just bought back shares of their stock driving their price upwards making themselves richer, and propping up the stock market which they claim is so great, but it is going to drop , and a lot soon. They won't be able to do this long before it shows severe signs of another recession, or worse if they start another war somewhere for distraction. They claim the economy is good now but watch how long before they'll blame others when it tanks because of THEIR policies. trump ad the gop are liars and know it is going to fall too, and getting their excuses ready once again.
