An official with the Georgia Secretary of States office claimed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking for information on Rachel Small, who allegedly spoke with Sarah Ghazal, the Democratic Party of Georgias Voter Protection Director, about trying to hack the states system. But the Dems shot back, saying Team Kemp is losing their minds, and the person in question is just a volunteer who passed along an email.

The Secretary of States office announced Sunday that they are investigating the Democratic Party of Georgia after an attempted hacking of the voter registration system, but at first, they didnt explain how theyd argue that local Dems are linked. This is the first inkling of the agencys actual claim, but the chairman of the Democratic Party of Georgia is demanding evidence.

Kevin Rowson, the public affairs specialist for the FBIs Atlanta Field Office, declined to comment. The Georgia Secretary of States Office, and the Democratic Party of Georgia did not immediately respond to a Law&Crime request for comment.
Local Democrats flat-out dismissed the offices claim of election malfeasance this morning. The investigation happens amid very fraught optics for Secretary of State Brian Kemp. Hes the GOP gubernatorial candidate, and faces multiple claims of voter suppression that disproportionately affects immigrants, black voters, and people filing absentee ballots. He refused to recuse in the event of a recount.

(54,365 posts)But knowing how Republicans operate, especially when they are terrified of losing a close election, I rather suspect that Brian Kemp invented "Rachel Small" out of thin air on purpose ("Rachel" being taken from their number one TV nemesis). The Donald probably called him personally to go ahead with it, said he'd done it thousands of times, and only Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell ever fact check him.

(238 posts)Looking for "Rachel Small" -- start by digging into James O'Keefe's "Project Veritas."
O'Keefe is known for dispatching his minions under pseudonyms to infiltrate Democratic organizations, then, spread lies about them.
In Virginia's 7th Congressional District, Republican incumbent is tied with Democratic challenger Abigal Spanberger. Last week, Spanberger's campaign outed a "volunteer" who was actually an O'Keefe spy who was operating under an assumed name.

(905 posts)...because you're right about the pseudonym angle. There's a Canadian environmental activist of this name who, as an organizer of Mining Injustice Solidarity Network, was one of several arrested protesting Steve Bannon up in Canada. She's also LGBTQ. These guys despise anyone who deals with conservation efforts, climate change, etc., and on top of that she self-identifies as queer. I could see O'Keefe thinking this a hilarious inside joke to use her name. Even when this guy gets caught doing this shit, his punishments are mere slaps on the wrist. So, he has every incentive to just keep on spinning crazier schemes.

(9,090 posts)talk radio's 1500 coordinated radio station messaging juggernaut they can make up anything they want.
and they're doing it now especially. the local 50,000watt limbaugh megastation had 4 GOP candidates on the local idiot sunday show. and it was endorsed by the state university, which broadcasts sports on it
the fact that the local dems have no idea the r-cons get all that free ad time all year is insane

(905 posts)Part of the reason the whole concept of radio doesn't even enter into the political thinking sphere with a lot of Dems is because it's considered a bygone relic that some only tune into while driving mostly short distances and even that's predominantly for music, which is itself being supplanted by personal devices and playlists, etc.
I think most would be shocked to the core if they were ever actually exposed to the absolute pervasiveness of right-wing radio, especially throughout the heartland outside of the cities, but also at universities across the country. The vertical integration of station ownership is insane.
Content is a non-stop toxic brew of every last conspiracy theory out there, the usual hate talk, white supremacists galore, and, importantly, a total playground for Rethuglican politicians who are able to go on air any time they want and banter amongst themselves and with their base. They get away with saying the craziest shit that you would think would be career-ending, but they're able to do it because it's analog airwaves. It's not digital and therefore not easily tracked. Unless you record it yourself in real time, you don't get the goods on them. And then there's just the near complete obliviousness amongst the left that this even exists.
Interesting. I haven't seen liberals talking about this for a long time, and I mean, like, 10-15 years ago in the days of Rachel Maddow on Air America.
