Vice President Mike Pence was feeling optimistic ahead of election day, despite overwhelming predictions that Democrats will seize control of the House.

During an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network, Pence said he thinks Republicans will be able to expand their majority in the Senate while maintaining their hold on the House.

“The President and I are very confident,” Pence told CBN. “If we get out and tell the story of the progress that we’re making in this country, progress that’s created nearly four million jobs, rebuild our military, has America standing tall in the world again, being respected again, we tell that story all across this country, we’re going to make history in 2018 just the way we made history in 2016.”

Everything points to a Democratic majority in Congress and possibly in the Senate as well. I don't pretend that the crooks from the republican party are going to go gently into the night, I expect them, with the aid of Putin, to cheat as much as they can, but regardless, I have to think that the exit polls will not be in their favour, no matter what, and I hope if/when they cheat and the results are turned in their favour that Democrats will forcefully contest.

I think some posters in this particular DU trend here are absolutely right in saying he'll be surprised after tonight. They'll try to sugarcoat it, but it'll fail miserably.

I've voted today earlier (STL MO), and the lines were amazing, considering I went during what I thought was a normal 'slow' time, so I can get in and vote quickly, and they were just, WOW! Totally opposite of what I normally see, and people were excited and you could sense the sheer energy of it. I got a big boost mentally in reveling in it.

Claire McCaskill is the rep we're sending back to Congress! Served two terms already and we're all wanting more of Claire, a person who really seems to care about us.
