Democrat Laura Kelly Defeats Kris Kobach To Become Kansas' Next Governor

Source: Kansas City Star

By Jonathan Shorman and Hunter Woodall, The Kansas City Star, 1 hr. ago.

TOPEKA, Kan. - Promising a new era of stability, Democrat Laura Kelly will be the next governor of Kansas. Kelly has vowed to put former Gov. Sam Brownback, and the years of budget woes brought on by his signature tax cuts, in the past.

"We can either go back to the Sam Brownback devastating years or we can elect a governor who will work like the devil to rebuild our state," Kelly said just a few days before the election.

Just after 9 p.m., Kelly led Kobach 51 percent to 41 percent with 1,599 of 3,556 precincts reporting. Independent Greg Orman had 6 percent of the vote, Libertarian Jeff Caldwell 2 percent and independent Rick Kloos 1 percent.

Kelly was expected to speak to supporters in Topeka later Tuesday night. -More...

Kansas politician 'Crosscheck' Kobach closely aligned himself with Trump and informally advised the president on immigration and voter fraud.

I hope The United States of America does not have to go through what Kansas went through to figure it out.

That was one hard fucking decades old lesson, if it finally works. Only history will tell.

destruction then clean up. Tonite was a huge improvement, but since we're headed for full on fascism and imminent climate disaster there's no time to waste.

Another reassuring post tonight stated how far CA and VA came in the last 20+ years. Nuuh, there's no 20 years...

No mention in the article of course that Kobach is the operator of the corrupt, lethal 'Crosscheck' voter removal program that Greg Palast often speaks about and blasts.

But this State went through the horror of Brokeback for years as we pissed off every dime of revenue from the working class so Corporations could get a 0% tax rate. KKKobach was going to take us right back to the Brownback days.

Kelly will do a GREAT job for Kansas and has promised to FINALLY start bringing down the sales tax rate on unprepared food.

This is what happens when you try and rig an election and move a polling place so that you think people won't travel the distance to get there to vote!!

The guy and his county clerk are scum bags...Good for you Dodge City,,,now tell him to get the "hell outta Dodge"

Though I’m surprised Kelly won by using phrases such as “work like the devil” in Kansas.

With Kobach the margin was an unequivocal, solid boot, he was so allied with the Trump, and because it was Kansas, the state that symbolically started the "What's Wrong with Kansas" wave. A political soul victory.

He could have loaned the campaign money but I noticed months ago that the ONLY ads running for him were paid for with out of State PAC money, nothing was coming from their campaign.

Good FUCKING riddance Kobach!!!
