Sen. Bill Nelsons campaign came out swinging on Friday, pushing back on Gov. Rick Scotts claims that they are trying to steal the close Senate race as the Democratic vote share keeps creeping upward.
Scott on Thursday announced he was suing elections supervisors in two predominantly Democratic counties, Palm Beach and Broward, where ballots are still being counted and eating into his lead. The governor also said he was asking Floridas Department of Law Enforcement to investigate the matter.
The tone, the tenor and [Scotts] behavior last night is not suggestive of a campaign that believes its winning, Marc Elias, the Nelson campaigns lead recount lawyer, said on a call with reporters.
This is not a third-world dictatorship, Elias said, referring to Scotts veiled threat or suggestion that he was somehow going to involve law enforcement. We dont let people seize ballots when they think theyre losing, he continued.

(19,192 posts)Without any constraints on Der Gropenfuhrer we'd be there by the end of his first - and last - term. Thank Dog the Democrats are now in control of the House!

(6,254 posts)me saying I was exaggerating. After 8 years of Obama I thought we were past all this. We arent even a third world country at the present. We are more in the twilight zone drifting into uncharted territory. It must testify other free countries who rely on the USA for world stability. I just cant believe we have so many ignorant and misinformed citizens. We must deal with our Fox problem.

(19,192 posts)who want to roll up the carpet and not allow anyone who doesn't look like them into the country. They want an isolationist country, never considering that the earth isn't flat, and that it's a global economy, whether they like it or not. The United States can't and won't be an island unto itself, no matter how much they want it to be.

(3,289 posts)with each passing day. The inaction of both McConnell and Ryan is absolutely disgusting. These two vile men care nothing at all about this country but only how things relate to them or their party. I'm sure money is involved in no small part. With republicans it always is!

(21,621 posts)Stealing from $2 billion from Medicare, as Rick Scott should know, is quintessentially third world.

(808 posts)Skeletor looking piece of shit, has gotten away with Medicare fraud, denied healthcare to 800,000 in Florida and looked the other way when the algae and red tide crisis hit Florida. Yes, he knows about third world politics, he has practiced them for a long time.

(748 posts)They're not busy right now, so they'd be available.
They're mostly old people, though, so you'd have to import coffee and doughnuts (mind the spelling) from Tim Horton's while they count your votes.

(32,620 posts)Thanks! I'd like to see the electronic voting machines all trashed, and maybe we'd recycle them for parts.
We need to start accepting early votes by mail in every state just like Washington State. And same-day votes would be on paper ballots only. The ballots must be checked and approved for uniformity and legibility, to avoid confusion and prevent people from missing important entries like they did in Florida.
So it means a lot of last-minute manual labor that requires literate, intelligent people who are non-partisan or otherwise have no dog on the race. The Canadian vote-checkers would be IDEAL for this!
