Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams filed a new lawsuit on Sunday evening to try to force counties not to throw out some absentee and provisional ballots, The Washington Post reported.
About 5,000 votes were added to the total over the weekend, primarily in Abrams favor. Abrams campaign has said it needs at least 21,700 more votes in order to force a runoff against Republican Brian Kemp, who has already resigned as secretary of state and claimed victory in the governors race with 50.3 percent of the vote, to Abrams 48.8 percent. To get a recount, Abrams would need more than 19,300 additional votes.
Abrams campaign estimates there are at least 26,000 provisional ballots that were cast in the Georgia race, according to the Post.
The bottom line is this race is not over. It is still too close to call, and we do not have confidence in the secretary of states office, Lauren Groh-Wargo, Abramss campaign manager, told reporters Sunday, according to the Post.

(14,169 posts)It seems like everyone's vote is supposed to be equal, but some are more equal than others. If there is a greater amount of non-counted votes than the difference between first and second place, then a counting should be automatic shouldn't it?
