DEMS NOMINATE OBAMA FOR SECOND TERM AS PRESIDENT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Democrats have nominated Barack Obama for a second term as president, setting up a showdown this fall with Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

In a raucous roll call of states that stretched into early Thursday, Ohio put Obama over top, giving him a victory that was a foregone conclusion before the first caucus in January.

Four years ago, Obama prevailed in an epic primary fight against Hillary Rodham Clinton to become the first black presidential candidate to lead his party. This time around, Obama was the only Democrat on the ballot in every state and former President Bill Clinton put Obama's name in nomination.

Democrats are scheduled to nominate Joe Biden for a second term as vice president later Thursday.

12. Straight Democratic Ticket

When I 1st voted (1974) Watergate was in full swing and Nixon resigned.

But I never thought to vote a straight Dem ticket even then, but investigated candidates even at the midterm elections. Carter was the 1st prez I voted for... and STILL investigated candidates then. I thought voting a straight anything ticket was "lazy".

But these days it's even WORSE than Watergate! The GOP has simply lost its mind. The power given to religion is unacceptable. Alas, there is nothing to do but vote a straight Dem ticket.... mainly because the GOP is in lock-step full totalitarian mode, and they are NUTS!

Someday I hope you get to investigate real choices! But for now... a straight Dem ticket is simply the only sane thing to do. (and it's the GOP fault)
