Howard Dean: Republicans will 'have a terrible time because they're getting older and whiter'

Source: Yahoo News

Dylan Stableford Senior Editor, Yahoo News • November 14, 2018

Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean was pleased with the party’s performance in last week’s midterm elections — and not just because it regained control of the House. According to Dean, a much more important trend emerged.

“Young people are taking over the Democratic Party, and that’s a very good thing,” the former Vermont governor said in an interview with Yahoo News’ “Bots & Ballots.”

“There’s a huge grassroots movement in this country run by people who are mostly under 35,” Dean said. “And they basically did all of the organization.”

That youth movement, according to Dean, puts the party in a much better position than the GOP.

There's a torch passing going on here. Don't be surprised if the 2020 nominee is someone you've yet to hear.

At this point, my main concern is trying to leave the world in a better place for them.

And the Republicans can do their King Canute routine as many times as they want, but that will NOT stop the waves!

We keep being told that 'pubs are dying out because their main support come from older, Caucasians who are merely stuck in their ways. I'm as liberal as they come, but I know this is bullshit. Democrats should stop saying this shit, it allows younger Caucasians to see their situation as something that needs saving. It's not. America is great BECAUSE of it's diversity, which includes older Caucasians. Stop this bullshit liberals and progressives. I can't fucking stand the nazi swine posing as republicans, and I completely disagree with all of the social platform and most of the economic platform of the GOP. That being said, we are the big tent party, not only is their room for older Caucasians, but just like America, there is room for everyone. If we don't want to fall into the "race trap" that republicans find themselves in, we will need to stop emphasizing that it's young black and brown vs old and white. We must emphasize the Americaness of us all, regardless of what color one's skin appears to be or what age one happens to be.

That is their demographic.

But we have also seen that those are the people voting. Not only that, but the older, whiter GOPers are doing everything in their power to keep non-whites from voting.

Just like gonorrhea, syphillis and other virulent viruses, Fox News will adapt to whatever form it needs to be to turn malleable people Republican.

It has infected our society and strengthens at our peril. To ignore this and be giddy about current demographics is self defeating and foolish.

don't think racism will die out; there's plenty of racist young people to pick up the slack. Sexism is, imo, an even bigger problem with millennials.
