The Latest on a petition seeking to impound absentee ballots in a New Mexico county in the race for a U.S. House seat (all times local):
1 p.m.
The New Mexico secretary of state's office says it expects Democrat Xochitl (ZOH'-cheel) Torres Small to take her U.S. House seat despite a push from her Republican opponent to inspect certain ballots.
New Mexico Secretary of State spokesman Alex Curtas said Friday the office is scheduled to certify results by Nov. 27 that will show, according to unofficial results, Torres Small defeating Republican Yvette Herrell.
State District Judge Manuel Arrieta ruled Friday the New Mexico secretary of state's office can tally results amid Herrell's request to impound absentee ballots in a key county.

My head is spinning as Yvette Herrell, the ALEC Star whom I ran against 2 years ago with lots of DU support, continues to fight the results...after she announced herself the winner.

(803 posts)She was humiliated when she had to walk back her "victory speech". A crazy move like this will only add to more bad press for her. I am SO GLAD the people in that district finally put an independent, intelligent woman in that seat. Yvette Harrell was/is in step with 45 to the extent that she is an embarrassment to the rest of the state. Buh Bye Yvette. Give it up. You lost. Really.

(4,110 posts)...and an attempt to trick Xochitl into conceding...or maybe it was a set up for this. I'm glad the Sec'y of State, Xochi and the Associated Press were wise enough not to buy into Yvette's bullshit.
