Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez backs Pelosi as most progressive candidate running

Source: DailyKos

Monday November 19, 2018 · 8:57 AM CST

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D. N.Y.) is supporting Nancy Pelosi for the Speaker of the House. While she would like to see younger leadership, she does not want more conservative leadership. Since Pelosi is the most progressive candidate in the race, AOC is supporting her.

.......................................
“My standard in this is: I’m going to support the most progressive candidate that’s leading the party and right now that is Nancy Pelosi, in terms of running,” she continued. “I would like to see new, younger leadership, but I don’t want new leadership that’s more conservative.”

She is an incoming Freshman and has much to learn and understand just like Nancy did when she was an incoming Freshman and those before her. There is a time for speaking up and out and a time to listen to the Elders when they speak. If AOC keeps winning her seat, her time will come as well.

She's reassuring other progressives who have had issues with Pelosi which I won't get into much on DU. The Bank bail out for one. It's a very unifying mesage.

Means a lot to me to hear her decision. She represents the future of the party--yeah, she has stuff to learn--but there's a lot the party can learn from her too.

something we definitely need. BUT she does need to know her place - observe, learn & listen to the party elders. Unlike other freshmen reps she is very vocal and certainly likes the spotlight. That can come across a bit off-putting. I'd like her to tone her propensity to hog the spotlight down a bit and learn from others who've come before her how to navigate the innerworkings of Congress.

I really do. Nancy Pelosi is consistently one of the most progressive and liberal Democrats in Government. She's got decades of experience and when she was running the House she had that joint in order and running smoothly. No kangaroo courts in committees, legislation hit the floor when it was supposed to, she knew what the Democratic Caucus was about and her whip numbers were spot on for each and every vote. She's probably the best Speaker of the House the House has seen in a generation. Regardless of someone's politics, Pelosi did her job and did it better than everyone.

She's not the boogey man, nor does she run the Democratic Party. She's powerful, yes, but isn't the end-all-be-all for Democrats. People need to chill out. Progressive voices always had a seat at Pelosi's table.

It has been a violation of federal law to discriminate on the basis of age since 1967:

The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA) protects applicants and employees 40 years of age and older from discrimination on the basis of age in hiring, promotion, discharge, compensation, or terms, conditions or privileges of employment. The ADEA is enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Fancy that.

p.s. happy TG Cha!

Blue Wave yeah!

She said it right there...that was a direct message to democrats and the 5-white-guys...Fudge? I just think she became excited by the idea of power, it is contagious and like any politician, she is not immune to it, but I am hoping that she thinks about it and understand that 1. it is not her time, 2. she needs to think about the party at this moment of the country's history, this is no time to fool around, this is a time to leave the management to the grown-ups, to those with plenty of experience because the fight that is coming will not be easy, you will need an huge understanding of your opponent, which Pelosi has.

The repubs are going to do their best to obstruct, anyone who thinks obstruction was ugly during the Obama years, which it was, what is coming will not compare, the analogy of the "cornered rat" will serve to compare for what is coming, and the rats are cornered right now. If there is anything repubs do very well is cheat, and they will find the loopholes, they will continually do their best to discredit democrats at all turns, and I am sure Putin will be there to give a helping hand when needed.

The fight that is coming will be hard...and having idiots like the 5-white-guys doesn't help.
