Source: News & Observer
The state board of elections Tuesday refused to certify the results of the 9th Congressional District election after one board member cited what he called unfortunate activities in the eastern part of the district.
Its unclear what those activities involved or what the failure to certify might mean. The board discussed the matter in closed session.

Election board member Joshua Malcolm raised the issue in what was expected to be a routine certification of the results of North Carolinas 13 congressional races. He asked the board to remove the 9th District from the list of those to be certified.

(14,951 posts)I suppose "unfortunate activities" in this context refers to voter suppression or fraudulent vote counting/reporting which disfavored the D candidate.

(7,534 posts)if what the guy is saying has any merit. He appears to be one of the few working to keep the polling places open against Republican attempts to suppress voting. This county goes Republican twice in more than a hundred years...1972 and 2016.

(10,151 posts)If every time you used your bank card or bank, they added and subtracted wrong, there would be outrage. But every time we vote, there are problems, and nobody seems all that concerned.
Accurate and fair elections are the basis of democracy, and should be a matter of nonpartisan consensus. Your analogy with financial accounting is perfect.
