CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — Four Florida police officers are on administrative leave after a cell phone video appeared to show one of them kicking a handcuffed man accused of stealing candy and drinks.

The video shot by a bystander Tuesday night shows 28-year-old Gabriel Narcisse-Beckford sitting on a curb with Coral Springs police officers around him. One officer kicks the man as another officer tells him to stop.

WSVN reports Narcisse-Beckford had struggled with police and had been shot with a stun gun.

Coral Springs police Chief Clyde Perry saw the video Wednesday and tells WPLG he immediately contacted the state attorney’s office.

Video appears to show Coral Springs officers kicking man in handcuffs

CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. (WSVN) - Cellphone video captured a South Florida man being arrested for petty theft. However, it’s the officers’ actions that has prompted an investigation.

. . .

Narcisse-Beckford was seen surrounded by four officers who were visibly struggling with the suspect. Officials said he was subdued with a Taser prior to being moved to the curb where the kicking allegedly occurred.

. . .

He was being arrested for allegedly stealing from the 7-24 Sun Mart along West Sample Road. The store clerk said he stole a drink and candy.

. . .

“This officer probably would have said this never happened,” the viewer said. “This guy did not deserve to get kicked in his head while he was on the ground.”
