CNN Poll: Approval ratings for Trump, Mueller fall
Source: CNN
As Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election inches closer to the President, approval of Donald Trump's handling of the investigation has fallen, matching its all-time low in CNN polling. The findings, from a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, come as half of Americans say they think it is likely that the Mueller investigation will implicate the president in wrongdoing.
In the new poll, Trump's approval rating for handling the Russia investigation dips to 29%, matching a low previously hit in June of this year.
The survey was conducted from Thursday through Sunday, a time when court filings in cases against Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen revealed the alleged lies Donald Trump's former lawyer and former campaign chairman told either publicly or to the special counsel's investigators.
The dip in Mueller's numbers comes almost entirely among independents.

IMO Ignorance is why the majority of Independents are independent.

(127,302 posts)He's not running for office nor is he out in the media giving press conferences or statements. Everything he does is only being learned based on what his team is filing in court (and the outcome of those proceedings) and what the M$M and social media and their pundits are endlessly speculating about, the latter being the primary means for the "lay" person to understand what is going on, despite the fact that the punditry is offering nothing more than opinions .
I think this "Mueller approval rating" stupidity is being used to muddy the waters in order to introduce some sort of nonsensical "balance".

(11,299 posts)What is the importance of a "public approval rating" for someone like Mueller? What is the White House chef's public approval rating? Does anybody know?

(23,738 posts)Media always tries to build a narrative, and they love the competitive 'person vs person' ones.
But this isn't about 'Mueller vs Trump' -- though Trump thinks that, and would love for the media to stick with that one.
This is about 'Trump vs The Law and Constitution'. It's not about a popularity contest, or competing TV shows.

(64,420 posts)No matter that the dems didn't appoint Mueller, there was a republican former senator as AG, and that congress was controlled before and after by R's.
Trump doesn't even think it's him against Mueller. That's why the "angry dems" mantra. But, like the petulant twit he is, can't help himself but including Mueller in his rants. He's just lashing out at anyone and everything that is making his "glorious" tenure difficult.
Of course, there is this: Mueller is just doing his job. PINO has never done a day of work in his life so he can't possibly grasp the notion of just doing one's job.

(127,302 posts)would be vs Pelosi or Schumer instead of vs Mueller. Mueller is basically just a hired hand who was appointed by someone from this current administration in order to investigate itself.
Seems the "This is an apple" network doesn't quite understand how to compare "apples to apples" and would rather compare "apples to oranges" to fit some bogus narrative, while they accuse their competition of calling an "apple" a "banana in all caps".

(9,090 posts)was appointed and they've been attacking the 'deep state' since inauguration.
that crap reeaches 50 mil/week and that increases in 'national emergencies'
the dem party and progressive orgs let those radio stations make this about mueller by ignoring that fact and doing nothing to challenge trump/putins ability to distort the situation on a national scale.
that is why idiot/bothsiders like chris mathews have deep concern about dems going to far and fast vs trump - that exAggerated 40% trump base they worry about is really 10%-15% strong plus a larger secondary and tertiary audience that just need to see some public testimony and protests at those radio stations and the 88 universities that support them
we're letting them make this about mueller and the 'deep state' for a huge captive audience and are letting those radio stations make things much worse than they need to be - they're enabling and intimidating media and politicians on both sides who need to do the right thing and any situations where juries are needed will be obstructed and hung up with the talk radio /fox -polluted dittohead teabaggers who believe that shit because only fox gets any hint of a challenge

(7,142 posts)For crying out loud how stupid can this poll be? Was it drawn up by Anderson Cooper? Only half of Americans believe that the Mueller investigation will implicate Trump in wrongdoing when the Mueller investigation has already implicated Trump in wrongdoing. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, there's a house on fire and CNN is asking people if they think it's hot inside the house and only half the people answer yes? bs.
This is what I mean by the right wing corporate control of the M$M. The narrative should be when are we going to indict our traitorous president? This fucking poll is going backwards, screw CNN.
