Gov. Ricketts says he's open to working on 'stand your ground' law in Nebraska

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Paul Hammel

LINCOLN — Gov. Pete Ricketts says he's willing to work on passage of a "stand your ground" law in Nebraska.

On his monthly call-in show, the recently re-elected Republican told a caller from Omaha that he'd be open to working with a state legislator in introducing and passing such a law.

"I'd be willing to work with any senator looking to protect your Second Amendment rights," Ricketts added, referring to the U.S. Constitution's "right to keep and bear arms" clause.

The caller said he'd recently been a victim of a break-in at his home, and complained that Nebraska's current laws seem to protect a burglar more than a homeowner.

I don't think of Nebraska as being an especially bright spot in the American intellectual firmament. But I don't think there is any kind of law that says: "If someone breaks in to your home, you are forbidden to protect yourself from him, or to harm him in any way."

Shit, Nebraska. Get it together, will you?

I am sure his and the crazy unicameral's first priority will be how to prevent the expansion of Medicaid which was passed by the voters in the two urban centers in the state. I know from experience they will try all kinds of sleazy stuff to stop that. Nebraska....racing to replicate the Kansas Miracle.....ugh.

What are these assholes thinking of? What does a stinking law that is going to bring more killings do for the population? These jackasses only think about bad-old-ideas that make them popular with their non-thinking voters...why, why????
